Two-month trekking ban every year in Tamil Nadu

The state government of Tamil Nadu has banned trekking between February 15 and April 15 every year in the aftermath of the Kurangini forest fire, which killed almost twenty tourists earlier in March this year. The rules have been notified based on an expert committee report on the Kurangini fire. According to ‘Spatial and temporal analysis of decadal forest fire data (2006-2015)’ released by the Tamil Nadu Forest department, forest fires start in January, increase in February and reach its highest point during March. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation offers special discounts to students on the occasion of Children’s Day on 14th November 2018. As per sources, children can have 15 per cent discount on food items in all its hotels and restaurants in the state. 1.28 lakh tourists visited Statue of Unity in 11 days

Statue of Unity in Narmada district of Gujarat has attracted more than 1.28 lakh tourists so far, as per an official statement from the tourism department. Massive inflow of visitors were recorded during the weekend, with over 50,000 people visiting the world’s tallest statue at Kevadiya village on Saturday and Sunday alone (November 10- 11). “Since November 1, when the statue opened for the public, we have received around 1.28 lakh tourists (till Sunday),”said R G Kanungo, Superintending Engineer of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL). Cyclone Gaja alert sounded in Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Puducherry

Travellers in any of the areas of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry, please stay safe as the authorities have issued a cyclone alert in the regions. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cyclone red alert for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. Cyclone Titli had earlier made landfall on October 11 and left 62 people dead in Odisha. The IMD said the cyclone Gaja was approaching coastal Tamil Nadu (east-northeast of Chennai) and east-southeast of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. Incessant power supply progrmme for major tourist places in Assam

Assam government envisages 24×7 power supply to seven tourist spots in the State and sanctioned a sum of Rs 30 crore for the project. However, due to non-release of funds the scheme is yet to be started. Sualkuchi Weaver Village Entrance Under the project the State Power Department was to ensure incessant power supply to tourist hotspots, such as Kaziranga, Kamakhya, Sualkuchi, Tezpur, Manash, Pobitora and Majuli. Kuveshi canopy walkway in Karnataka to be open for public this November

India’s first canopy walk is all set to open for tourists by mid-November. Though it was inaugurated in February, entry of tourists was barred because of monsoon. The 240 meter canopy walkway 30 meters above ground level in the dense forests of Western Ghats was constructed by the The Forest and Tourism departments jointly at a cost of Rs 84 lakh.
