രാജ്യത്തെ വൃത്തിയുള്ള വിമാനത്താവളം എന്ന പദവിക്ക് മംഗളൂരു രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളം അർഹമായി. രാജ്യത്തെ 53 വിമാനത്താവളങ്ങളിൽ എയർപോർട്ട് അതോറിറ്റി ഒാഫ് ഇന്ത്യ നടത്തിയ സർവെയിലാണ് വൃത്തിയുള്ള വിമാനത്താവളത്തെ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. 23മത് വാർഷികാഘോഷത്തിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമായി എയർപോർട്ട് അതോറിറ്റിയാണ് വൃത്തിയുള്ള വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന്‍റെ പേര് പുറത്തുവിട്ടത്. വിമാനത്താവള ടെർമിനൽ, പാർക്കിങ് ഏരിയ, ടോയ്ലറ്റ്, കൊമേഷ്യൽ സ്റ്റാളുകൾ, വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലേക്കുള്ള റോഡുകൾ, കസ്റ്റമർ ലോഞ്ച് എന്നിവ പരിശോധിച്ചാണ് വൃത്തിയുള്ളവ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. ദുർഗ ഫസിലിറ്റി മാനേജ്മെന്‍റ്  സർവീസ് പ്രൈവറ്റ് ലിമിറ്റഡാണ് മംഗളൂരു വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന്‍റെ ശുചീകരണ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ നടത്തുന്നത്.
