J-K Tourism dept lines up activities to attract tourists

The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department has lined up various activities, including promoting destination festivals and organizing dedicated trekking expeditions, to attract tourists to the union territory. This was said at a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary A K Mehta held to review various activities being undertaken by the Tourism department. Jammu & Kashmir to connect tourism hotspot Gulmarg with Kargil

Jammu & Kashmir is looking to connect Gulmarg with Kargil and Drass in Ladakh, with a 600 km-long highway. The new highway will be constructed touching all the picturesque tourist spots in the Kashmir Valley, each of which will be “another Gulmarg”, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam has said. The project cost is estimated at Rs 8,000 crore. “We are planning to construct a 600 km road which will touch tourist attractions like Keran, Gurej and Machhal. Kashmir Tourism launches new web portal for online registrations, renewals

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism has launched a new Web Portal of the Tourism Department http://www.tourismjk.in, which will provide direct access to the services being provided by the Department as well as technical information such as checklist and other formalities required for on-line registration and renewal of these services. Kashmir Tourism is considering intensive promotion of adventure tourism in the state to go along with the current market trend. Adventure tourism or active tourism, which involves physical activity in a tourist destination, is getting more popular among tourists. Some of the most popular activities are mountaineering, trekking, white water rafting, skiing, cross country skiing and ski mountaineering, and a host of other thrilling sports. Tourism dept to frame guidelines for adventure activities in J&K

With an aim to facilitate adventure tourism in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Government is in the process of framing guidelines for adventure activities being carried out by various agencies in the state. Film on J&K Tourism wins IAA award

A short film on Jammu and Kashmir tourism, titled “Warmest Place on Earth” has won “gold” at an award ceremony organised by the India chapter of International Advertising Association (IAA). The ad film launched by the state’s Tourism Department in September 2017 has been declared the winner in the ‘Travel and Tourism Category’ at IndiAA awards held in Mumbai on Friday. The film highlights the hospitality of Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir set to launch tourism campaign

The department said it will also focus on attracting foreign tourists from Southeast Asian countries and Bangladesh, from where the footfall has witnessed a steep rise in the recent past. Tourism department to implement MIS to track development of projects

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department is planning to implement a Management Information System (MIS) in order to keep an eye on the speed and real-time development of progressing works. This is an initiative by the tourism department to speed up the various ongoing projects under the Government of India and state government schemes. As per reports, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been given the task to develop a Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Software with some exclusive features. Govt to frame tourism policy for livelihood purpose: J&K min

Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for Tourism Tassaduq Hussain Mufti said the state government has adopted a multipronged strategy to harness the tourism potential and position J&K as the leading global destination.
