Statue of Unity enters World Architecture News Awards 2019

Standing tall at 182 m, the Statue of Unity, the towering structure dedicated to India’s first deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, has entered the prestigious World Architecture News Awards 2019 in the mixed-use category. Tourism ministry target 5 million visitors to the Statue of Unity by next year

National Tourism Advisory Council  will meet on 21st – 22nd February 2019 at the site of the newly made Statue of Unity, Kevadiya in Gujarat. The objective of the brainstorming would be how to achieve a target of 5 million visitors to the Statue of Unity by next year. The world’s tallest statue of the iconic leader Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is 182 meter tall. K J Alphons, Union Tourism Minister, will chair the meeting. Gujarat to relocate crocodiles from Statue of Unity premises

Gujarat government to relocate the Crocodiles in the ponds near the Patel statue – Statue of Unity, for enabling the implementation of a sea plane project  for the tourists. There are around 500 reptiles in two ponds on the statue premises. It is reported that the forest department has removed 15 so far. The crocodiles are likely to be released at the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam reservoir. Govt events are coming up at Statute of Unity to boost tourism

The venue of Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Narmada district is becoming a favoured tourist destination of the state, within two months after it’s unveiling by PM Narendra Modi. In order keep the statute and the surrounding area in the limelight, the authorities are planning to have a series of national and state-level government events on the premises in Kevadia Colony. A conference of state election commissioners to review the preparedness for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be hosted in the premises in February 2019. 1.28 lakh tourists visited Statue of Unity in 11 days

Statue of Unity in Narmada district of Gujarat has attracted more than 1.28 lakh tourists so far, as per an official statement from the tourism department. Massive inflow of visitors were recorded during the weekend, with over 50,000 people visiting the world’s tallest statue at Kevadiya village on Saturday and Sunday alone (November 10- 11). “Since November 1, when the statue opened for the public, we have received around 1.28 lakh tourists (till Sunday),”said R G Kanungo, Superintending Engineer of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL). PM unveils the world’s tallest statue – Statue of Unity in Gujarat

Prime Minister Inaugurates the Statue of Unity Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Statue of Unity – the world’s tallest statue at 182 metres – built in honour of freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Wednesday, 31st October 2018 – which marks the 143rd birth anniversary of  Patel. The statue stands on Sadhu island on the Narmada in Gujarat and is said to be twice the height of the Statue of Liberty in the US.
