Tourism sector has created around 14 million jobs in the country – KJ Alphons

The Tourism sector of India has created nearly 14 million jobs in the country, employing all sections of the society, in the last four years, said KJ Alphons, Union Tourism Minister. Tourism ministry target 5 million visitors to the Statue of Unity by next year

National Tourism Advisory Council  will meet on 21st – 22nd February 2019 at the site of the newly made Statue of Unity, Kevadiya in Gujarat. The objective of the brainstorming would be how to achieve a target of 5 million visitors to the Statue of Unity by next year. The world’s tallest statue of the iconic leader Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is 182 meter tall. K J Alphons, Union Tourism Minister, will chair the meeting. MOT appoints Association of Buddhist Tour Operators to promote Buddhist tourism

Ministry of Tourism has appointed Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) as Advisor in National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC). The ministry had nominated the association to the council for preserving heritage monuments and promoting Buddhist tourism in the country. “ABTO is a platform for all tourism service providers and others stakeholders engaged in the promotion of Buddhist pilgrimage tourism in India, Nepal and other Asian countries. Kerala plans cruise tourism with Nefertiti; to be launched by October end

Nefertiti, the Egyptian themed luxury vessel of the Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC), will be launched by the end of October, charting a new course in cruise tourism in Kerala. This was announced on Sunday by Mohammed Hanish, Managing Director of KSINC, on the sidelines of Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) 2018, the biggest tourist conclave in the country at Willingdon Island here, where the vessel was showcased.
