In the future, lighthouses in India will be turned into tourism hubs

Central Government to test new possibilities in tourism in India. As part of this, lighthouses in India will be turned into tourist destinations. The 65 lighthouses selected in the country will be converted into tourism hubs. The Central Government has already started efforts for this. After covid, the project aims to attract world tourists to India. The lighthouses in different states will be brought under a single scheme by the government. Tourists can soon enjoy home stays in villages around Statue of Unity

Travellers can soon enjoy homestays around the iconic Statue of Unity in Gujarat. The administration of Narmada district is planning to introduce homestay facility for tourists visiting the world’s tallest statue, located in Kevadia Colony. A total of 116 houses have been identified in 22 villages around the Statue of Unity, where 252 rooms will be renovated as homestay accommodations for the tourists. The houses were shortlisted based on whether they are pucca houses and whether there is an extra or spare room in the house which can be utilized for the purpose. Gujarat to come up with heritage tourism policy; expects 6 crore tourists this fiscal

Akshardham Temple, Gujarat The Gujarat government is planning to come up with a heritage tourism policy, while focusing on attracting foreign tourists, said Jenu Devan, Managing Director & Commissioner of Tourism, Gujarat Tourism. The state has registered 14 per cent growth in the number of tourists in 2018-19. In 2016-17, tourists’ inflow was 4.48 crore and the same went up to almost 5.8 crore in 2018-19. The annual growth rate was 14 per cent. With the trend of increasing tourists’ footfalls, we are expecting that tourist inflow should cross six crore in the current fiscal. Canada travel advisory warns citizens not to travel to India

The Government of Canada has issued travel advisory warning its citizens not to travel to India. “Exercise a high degree of caution in India due to a continuing threat of terrorist attacks throughout the country at all times,” it said. The advisory also tells to avoid non-essential travel to parts of north eastern India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland, due to conflict. It also advises to avoid all travel to Western border with Bangladesh and Jammu and Kashmi, due to sporadic terrorist activity and violent demonstrations. Around 75 participants attended AURO University’s National Budding Chef Competition

The fifth National Budding Chef Competition by AURO University attracted over 15 teams across India with more than 75 participants. PM unveils the world’s tallest statue – Statue of Unity in Gujarat

Prime Minister Inaugurates the Statue of Unity Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Statue of Unity – the world’s tallest statue at 182 metres – built in honour of freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Wednesday, 31st October 2018 – which marks the 143rd birth anniversary of  Patel. The statue stands on Sadhu island on the Narmada in Gujarat and is said to be twice the height of the Statue of Liberty in the US. Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal has inaugurated the first Mega Food Park in Gujarat. Promoted by Gujarat Agro Infrastructure Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd, the Park is located at Village Shah and Vasravi, Taluka Mangrol, District Surat. Gujarat welcomes states to build guesthouses and canteens in Narmada

Six new Passport Seva Kendras to come up in Gujarat

The government of India has decided to start six new Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) in Gujarat. With the new PSKs, Gujarat will have a total of 25 PSKs. The new PSKs will be coming up in Amreli, Gandinagar, Surendranagar, Patan, Bardoli and Sabarkantha. MoS external affairs M J Akbar said, “For 70 years there were only five PSKs in Gujarat. Water aerodromes to come up in five Indian states

With an aim to promote operation of sea planes in the country, the central government has given in-principle approval for construction of ‘water aerodromes’, in five states. The first such aerodromes are set to come up in Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Assam.
