Houseboats at Odisha’s Chilika, Bhitarkanika soon

Tourists visiting Odisha’s Chilika and Bhitarkanika lakes will soon be able to stay in houseboats. Also, visitors to Puri may also get a chance to surf the waves at a planned annual event. Odisha to organise international coastal festival near Konark from December 14

Government of Odisha has decided to organise an international-level coastal festival, ‘Marine Drive Eco Retreat’, near Konark from December 14, 2019 to January 14, 2020. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The festival, to be held on the Marine Drive, will have cultural programmes, 3D mapping, food festivals and adventure and water sports. A luxurious tent cottage with 50 rooms will come up with water, electricity and parking facilities. Sikharchandi, located near Chandaka Industrial Estate in Odisha, is all set to get a makeover. The state government is planning to develop the region into a tourist hub. PM inaugurates Odisha’s second airport at Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda airport, Odisha Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new airport in Jharsuguda, named after freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai. The first flight took off from the airport today with 10 passengers, including four differently abled children and three crew members (a pilot, an assistant pilot and a flight attendant). Odisha government is planning to conduct road-shows to promote sports tourism in the state, in view of the forthcoming Hockey Men’s Cup to be taken place at Kalinga Stadium from 28th November to 16th December. Odisha Tourism is trying crowdsourcing and is encouraging people to design its new logo which will make its brand recognizable globally. The state tourism board has announced a logo design contest to further strengthen its tourism brand.
