Rs 3318 crores worth road projects coming up in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone for three National Highway projects of nearly 200 kilo metre worth Rs 3,318 crore in Baripada in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha on Saturday, 5th January 2019 The projects include four laning of Rimuli-Koida section of NH-215 (New NH-520), four laning of Koida-Rajamunda section of NH-215 (New NH-520), and four laning of Singara-Binjabahal section of NH-6 (New NH-49). The works include construction of four bypasses, 3 flyovers, 11 vehicular underpasses, 12 major bridges, 50 minor bridges and 34 kilo metres of service road. New year starts with adventure tourism events in Jharkhand

Adventure seekers of Jharkhand and the neighbouring states are going to have fun and adventure filled trips in various parts of the state next month. The state tourism department is all set to conduct adventure tourism events in various districts of Jharkhand from January 11 to 20. Ranchi, Betla, Netarhat and Chandil Dam are the locations identified for the events,; where over 20 types of adventure activities will be organized. High Court asks Jharkhand govt to open information kiosks at major centres

Naulakha Mandir, Deoghar The Jharkhand High Court referred about a more “proactive role” of the state government to promote tourism in the state. The HC has suggested that the government should open information kiosks at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi and railway stations to help visitors. A division bench of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice Ratnaker Bhengra, while hearing a PIL filed by one Babloo Kumar, said the kiosks could come up at the airport and railway stations of primary districts to begin with. Storm, rain predicted across North India; Rail, flight services hit

The India Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms across north-west India over the next 48 to 72 hours and as a result several trains and flights are also running late. A powerful dust storm and rain hit Delhi, grounding flights, uprooting trees and bringing traffic on the city’s roads to a grinding halt, days after an alert across north India for a massive storm. Hotel Ashok shuts down

Hotel Ashok in Ranchi has stopped all its operations last Friday. A joint venture between Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and the erstwhile Bihar government, the hotel opened in Ranchi in 1988 and had been running at a loss for years. The property has three stakeholders, namely, ITDC (51 per cent), Jharkhand (12.5) and Bihar the rest. Originally, Bihar owned 49 per cent stake but after the formation of Jharkhand, the stakes were split 3:1 following an inter-ministerial meeting under the chairmanship of principal secretary to the Prime Minister in 2004.
