Gujarat to launch tourism circuit in Saurashtra

The Gujarat government has announced that Saurashtra will soon have a tourism circuit involving its beaches, religious tourism and wild life travel centred around its lions. Chief minister Vijay Rupani has decided to invest Rs 126.96 crore for the same. “The Gujarat government is mulling developing a tourist circuit involving pilgrimages, beaches in Saurashtra and the pride of Gujarat, the lions of the Gir forest. This would include the Shree Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple and Girnar Hills, historical places like Uparkot Fort, beaches of Somnath and lion sighting in Gir Lion Sanctuary in Saurashtra,” Rupani said. In an effort to aid tourism in the state and revive the sector amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Gujarat government is looking to promote the Statue of Unity and the area surrounding the site as a place for destination weddings. Gujarat’s tour operators petition the tourism minister seeking aid

The Travel Agents and Tour Operators Association of Gujarat (TAG) has submitted a memorandum to the state tourism minister, Jawahar Chawda, seeking relief measures through a tourism aid package. Rannotsav and the Statue of Unity attract tourists to Gujarat and travel agents who help bring in bookings should be incentivised, they said in their submission. Tourist-friendly infrastructure including stopovers with proper amenities should be developed along the key state highways and also highways leading to tourist destinations,” mentions the representation. Gujarat to come up with heritage tourism policy; expects 6 crore tourists this fiscal

Akshardham Temple, Gujarat The Gujarat government is planning to come up with a heritage tourism policy, while focusing on attracting foreign tourists, said Jenu Devan, Managing Director & Commissioner of Tourism, Gujarat Tourism. The state has registered 14 per cent growth in the number of tourists in 2018-19. In 2016-17, tourists’ inflow was 4.48 crore and the same went up to almost 5.8 crore in 2018-19. The annual growth rate was 14 per cent. With the trend of increasing tourists’ footfalls, we are expecting that tourist inflow should cross six crore in the current fiscal. PM unveils state-of-the-art super specialty hospital in Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the super-specialty public hospital – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research- in Ahmedabad on 17th January 2018. Built by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the 78 meter high, 1500 bed hospital is equipped with all modern amenities, including an air ambulance. PM inspected the facilities at the hospital. 1.28 lakh tourists visited Statue of Unity in 11 days

Statue of Unity in Narmada district of Gujarat has attracted more than 1.28 lakh tourists so far, as per an official statement from the tourism department. Massive inflow of visitors were recorded during the weekend, with over 50,000 people visiting the world’s tallest statue at Kevadiya village on Saturday and Sunday alone (November 10- 11). “Since November 1, when the statue opened for the public, we have received around 1.28 lakh tourists (till Sunday),”said R G Kanungo, Superintending Engineer of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL). Gujarat welcomes states to build guesthouses and canteens in Narmada

Vaishno Devi Temple, Kashmir Tourism officials and private stakeholders have urged the Gujarati counterparts to visit Kashmir to alleviate the negative impressions about visiting Kashmir.  They were participating in the three-day Travel and Tourism Fair at Ahmedabad, as part of the country wide Kashmir tourism promotional campaign, which was started last week. Gujarat to follow Kerala model for Ayurvedic tourism

The government of Gujarat is planning to promote Ayurvedic tourism, learnt from the success story of Kerala in the sector. A campaign launched by the Tourism Ministry promoted by Bollywood super star Amitabh Bachan, in this line was very promising. The government will start 10 wellness centers this year with a cost of Rs 5 crores.
