Alaska Airlines elevates First Class menu and experience

To give guests more of what they love, Alaska Airlines is investing in the First Class experience with West Coast-inspired upgrades. A flavorful new First Class menu will start flying this week, while new thoughtful product extras will be introduced throughout 2018, the airlines said in a statement. The new menu features fresh, local ingredients paired with seasonal favorites. Twin tunnel in Maharashtra

As part of the Missing Link Project, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), is constructing one of the longest four-lane tunnels in the world, between Mumbai and Pune. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2021. The project, joining Kusgaon village and Chavani village in Pune, would be at a length of over 19.8 km. The two twin tunnels will together constitute (4+4) four lanes for a hassle-free, to and fro commuting. Oman eases visa on arrival procedures

Effective 21 March 2018, visas will only be granted electronically via https://evisa.rop.gov.om and there will be no more hand-processed visas at the airport effective that date, informed the Royal Oman Police (ROP). Vietnam – India direct flights soon

For the first time, India and Vietnam would be linked through direct flights by Vietjet by the third quarter of 2018. The announcement was made during the Vietnam – India Business Forum held recently. Vietjet will begin four-times-weekly services between Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi on April 5. Travellers from India will be able to fly directly to Vietnam and vice versa, which is going to give a big boost to tourism activities between the two countries. Delhi Metro opens Pink Line

Delhi Metro, as part of expanding its network, will inaugurate the 20 km long Pink Line connecting south and north-west Delhi (Majlis Park – Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus section). The UAE’s consulates in Boston and New York have issued an advisory on the UAE Embassy twitter page saying Emirati residents need to be cautious and contact the embassy for emergencies. The winter storm in the United States is poised to re-intensify, prompting weather warnings to residents. The notification read that Emirati residents in Boston need to take precautions. The winter storm, set to descend on Monday 11pm up until Tuesday 8pm, is moving in. Blizzard warnings have been issued along the coast of Massachusetts too. Policing without policemen in Dubai

Dubai Police has announced its latest project – ‘Police Without Policemen’ – as part of the Dubai 10X initiative. It will make Dubai a city of the future, using three specific activation that ensure security using futuristic solutions. The plans include setting up fixed cameras on fences and homes, the launch of a surveillance blimp and creating a Station in Patrol which aims to provide rapid response to emergencies and replace the need to build traditional police stations. UAE – Saudi Arabia rail link by December 2021

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Saudi Arabia rail link will be operational by December 2021. The 2,100 km (1,300 mile) passenger, cargo network, once completed, will connect six GCC states. “By the end of December 2021 we will have a connection between us and the Saudis,” Abdullah Salem Al Kathiri, director general of the Federal Authority for Land and Marine Transport. Phase 2 of Etihad Rail will be linked to Mussafah, to the Khalifa and Jebel Ali Ports, respectively in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and to the Saudi and Omani borders.    

Russia introduces new hyper-sonic missile

Russia, as part of strengthening their military power, had successfully tested the hypersonic missile that travels 10 times the speed of sound. The missile named ‘Kinzhal’ was deployed from a MiG-31 fighter jet that can hit the target more precisely. “The launch was normal; the hypersonic missile hit the preset target on the test site,” said the defence ministry. The missile got the name Kinzhal for its double-edged dragger design.
