Rajasthan’s tourism minister Vishvendra Singh has expressed his public displeasure at the functioning of the tourism department in the state. The coronavirus outbreak has severely impacted the sector, counted as one of the major sources of Rajasthan’s revenue. Jaipur’s elephant tourism crushing under the weight of the pandemic

At least 8,000 families connected with elephant tourism in Jaipur have been left in the lurch, as tourism revenues continue to run dry. The families have been dependent upon 103 elephants in Hathi Gaon and in areas near the precincts of iconic Amer Fort in Jaipur. These families — which include those of mahouts, caretakers, farmers who provide fodder for elephants, tourist guides — have been adversely affected because of lack of tourists, according to a report in India Today. Rajasthan to restrict inter-state travel

The Rajasthan government has announced that interstate movement will be regulated in view of an “unprecedented surge” in Covid-19 cases in the state. Under the new guidelines issued by the Home department, all persons going out of the state will need to obtain a pass for travel from the district collector and Superintendent of Police. If the permit is issued by a sub-divisional magistrate, Deputy SP or the local police station, then they have to inform the collector or SP. Rajasthan minister initiates turban challenge on Twitter to promote tourism

Rajasthan’s state tourism minister Vishvendra Singh has initiated a safa (turban) challenge on Twitter, generating interest from politicians across India. State’s deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and other leaders have responded to the challenge. The minister said the challenge on Twitter is intended to promote Rajasthan’s culture and heritage, on the global stage. “#SafaWithTwitter to promote Rajasthan globally. Rajasthan opens up monuments, museums but no footfalls yet

After over two months of closure due to the coronavirus lockdown, monuments and tourist attractions in Rajasthan have reopened. But there hasn’t been any footfalls yet. Tourism stakeholders have welcomed the government decision to allow reopening of these places but are also concerned as the pandemic continues to rage. “On the first day of reopening, we organised a cultural performance by folk artistes at 32 monuments in the state including in capital city. Rajashan Tourism reverts its tourism slogan to ‘Padharo Mhare Desh’

Rajasthan’s newly elected Congress government reverts its old tourism slogan ‘Padharo Mhare Desh’ (Welcome to our land), which was changed by the previous BJP government to ‘Jaane Kya Dikh Jaye’ (You never know what you might see) in 2016. The Congress government has rolled back the previous government’s decision with an order issued on 25th January 2019. Rajasthan to promote Battlefield Tourism

The Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) has come up with a new concept in tourism to attract more people to Rajasthan.  The new concept – Battlefield Tourism- was announced during its 7th Annual Convention in Bharatpur. Rajasthan tourism department is going to have a new tourism policy with priority to Destination Weddings and MICE activities (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions). Rajasthan exempts 50% stamp duty to boost tourism

This is the best time to start a tourism enterprise or an enterprise for providing entertainment in Rajasthan, as the state government has decided to exempt 50 per cent on stamp duty. Foreign tourist inflow to double in 3 yrs: Tourism Min

The Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Tourism, Gvt of India, K J Alphons said that the government is taking all measures to double the tourists inflow in India in next three years. ‘Foreign tourist inflow in India last year grew by 15.6 per cent and receipts grew by 20.2 per cent.
