Palace on Wheels wins PATWA Award 2018 at ITB

Luxury train of India, Palace on Wheels, has won the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) award under the category ‘Tourist Train of the Year’. The award was declared at the recently concluded ITB Berlin event in Germany. One of the prestigious luxury trains of India, Palace on Wheels started its maiden run on January 26, 1982. The Incredible India pavilion won the Best Exhibitor Award in the ITB Berlin 2018 convened at Berlin, Germany from 7th March to 10th March, 2018. Kerala Tourism’s new campaign has bagged the prestigious ‘Golden City Gate Award’ at the world’s leading travel trade show ITB in Berlin. Titled ‘Live Inspired’, the multimedia campaign that seeks to promote God’s Own Country as an art and cultural hub, is directed by Samir Thahir. The Tourism department of Kerala is promoting the benefits of Ayurveda at ITB Berlin. Kerala Tourism is all set to introduce a new brand ambassador, says P Bala Kiran, IAS, Director, Kerala Tourism at ITB Berlin exclusively to Tourism News Live. “A new campaign will be launched in the coming months with a new brand ambassador to promote Kerala to the globetrotters across the world,” he said. After welcoming 14 million visitors in 2017, Indonesia is all set to welcome 17 million visitors in 2018. Ras Al Khaimah to open phase II of world’s longest zipline by year-end

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has announced that considering the visitor response, it will open the phase II of world’s longest zipline in the third quarter of 2018. The phase II will feature two new cables and will increase the capacity of the Jebel Jais Flight to 400 people per day, around 200,000 per year. The Jordan Tourism Board, in partnership with Universes in Universe-Worlds of Art, has launched ‘Art Destination Jordan’, a website that gives a glimpse into both the modern and ancient art scene in Jordan, on the first day of ITB Berlin. Expedia presented Tourism Ireland with its 2017 ‘campaign of the year’ accolade on the Ireland stand at ITB in Berlin. Last autumn, Tourism Ireland teamed up with Expedia to grow visitor numbers to Dublin during the shoulder and off-season months.
