China warns citizens about travelling to Canada

China has issued a travel advisory to its citizens, urging them to “fully assess the risks of travel” to Canada after a Chinese executive was arrested in the North American country. China’s Foreign Ministry said Canada recently “arbitrarily detained” a Chinese national, a reference to Chinese executive Meng Wanzhou. Meng, the chief financial officer at Huawei, a global telecommunications conglomerate, was arrested on December 1 at the request of the United States. UAE warns Emiratis in US

The UAE’s consulates in Boston and New York have issued an advisory on the UAE Embassy twitter page saying Emirati residents need to be cautious and contact the embassy for emergencies. The winter storm in the United States is poised to re-intensify, prompting weather warnings to residents. The notification read that Emirati residents in Boston need to take precautions. The winter storm, set to descend on Monday 11pm up until Tuesday 8pm, is moving in. Blizzard warnings have been issued along the coast of Massachusetts too. Rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal; Snow in North Kashmir

The State Disaster Management Authority of Kerala has directed the government to enforce a fishing ban after the India Meteorology Department warned of rain, squally winds and rough sea conditions and extended its advisory for fishermen. The Chief Minister’s office has directed District Collectors to disseminate the weather warning to fishermen. The Departments of Revenue and Fisheries and the Coastal police have also been advised to remain vigilant. Snow alert declared for Sioux Falls

The city of Sioux Falls in South Dakot is under a snow alert, which officially began at 5:30 a.m. today.   as Monday’s snow storm is cleared from the roads, and vehicles that are on the road at the wrong time could be ticketed or towed. UAE weather alert: ‘Very rough sea’ for next 48 hours

The National Centre of Meteorology has sent out weather warnings  for UAE. The NCM reports that the weather in Dubai would be partly cloudy in general and hazy at times. There will be moderate winds in general, freshening at times over the land, causing blowing dust/sand over some exposed areas and fresh to strong winds at times over the sea. Due to heavy snowfall, high winds and avalanche hazard, The Peak Express, Harmony 6 Express, Symphony Express, and Whistler T-bars in Whistler, will not be in operation. UPDATE: (20.00 PM IST): All tsunami watches and warnings have been CANCELLED associated with the M7.9 earthquake in Alaska. A major earthquake with a magnitude of 8.2 struck 170 miles off the coast of Alaska in the wee hours of Tuesday, prompting a tsunami warning along the coastline. The earthquake prompted a tsunami warning for parts of Alaska and Canada as well as a tsunami watch for the entire US west coast.
