IHCL enters Saudi with first Taj property in Makkah
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) that runs the Taj brand of luxury hotels, entered into Saudi Arabia with a 340-keys property in Makkah. IHCL, in partnership with Umm Al Qura Development and Construction Company, will open the hotel in January 2023 in the tony King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) project, one of the largest urban rejuvenation projects in Makkah. Saudi waterway to turn Qatar into island
If the Gulf investors are moving ahead with their plans to dig a 60 kilometre-long water canal alongside the border with Qatar, chances are high that Qatar could be turned into an island. The canal would be 60 kms long, 200 meters wide and 15 to 20 meters deep, enabling it to receive all kinds of ships from tankers and passenger ships, with a maximum length of 300 meters and a width of 33 meters. Saudi Arabia to host its first fashion week
Saudi Arabia is all set to host its first fashion week from April 10 to 14 at the Ritz Cartlon in Riyadh. The four-day event will feature local Arab designers and European brand names including Roberto Cavalli and Jean Paul Gaultier. “Since the initial announcement made in February, Arab Fashion Week Riyadh has garnered significant interest from international guests wanting to attend,” said Layla Issa Abuzaid, the country director for Saudi Arabia at the Arab Fashion Council. Spying on spouse’s phone is now punishable in Saudi Arabia
Spying on your spouse’s phone is no more a light matter in Saudi, rather it is now a criminal offence potentially punishable by a hefty fine – and a year in jail. The punishment ranges from imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year, and a fine of not more than 500,000 riyals ($133,000), or either one of these penalties in case the husband or wife are spying on the other’s phone, in order to catch a wrongful act. Saudi Arabia won’t retain passports of Indian crew on arrival
The government of Saudi Arabia has decided not to retain the passports of the Indian airline crew members on arrival in the country and issue a bar code instead. The move comes as a big relief to the crew of Air India and Jet Airways, the two Indian airlines which fly to Saudi. The decision not to retain the passports of the crew of Indian airlines came into effect from mid-February this year. The bar code given to the crew members will have limited validity. വിനോദ സഞ്ചാരികളെ ക്ഷണിച്ച് സൗദി. അടുത്ത മാസം മുതല്‍ രാജ്യം സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കുന്നതിനു ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് വിസ നല്‍കിത്തുടങ്ങും. സൗദി ടൂറിസം നാഷണല്‍ ഹെറിറ്റേജ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് സുല്‍ത്താന്‍ ബിന്‍ സല്‍മാന്‍ ബിന്‍ അബ്ദുള്‍ അസീസ് രാജകുമാരനാണ് ഇതിനു നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കിയത്. ഇതിനു വേണ്ടി നേരെത്ത തന്നെ ഉത്തരവിറക്കിയിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ അടുത്ത മാസം മുതല്‍ നടപ്പാക്കുന്ന കാര്യം ഇപ്പോഴാണ് സൗദി അറിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് വിസ സിംഗിള്‍ എന്‍ട്രി വിസയായിരിക്കും. 30 ദിവസമായിരിക്കും വിസയുടെ കാലാവധി. രാജ്യത്തെ സാമ്പത്തിക രംഗത്ത് തീരുമാനം നേട്ടമായി മാറുമെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. വര്‍ഷം തോറും 30മില്യണ്‍ ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് വിസകള്‍ നല്‍കുന്നതിനാണ് സൗദിയുടെ തീരുമാനം. നിലവില്‍ ഹജ്ജ് തീര്‍ഥാടകര്‍ക്കുള്ള വിസ, ഫാമിലി വിസ, ജോബ് വിസ എന്നിവ മാത്രമാണ് സൗദി നല്‍കി വരുന്നത്.
Qatar files complaint against Bahrain at UN
Qatar filed a serious complaint at United Nations, regarding a Bahrain warplane over breaching the Qatari airspace. According to reports, two Qatari warplanes had flown dangerously close to two civilian aircraft approaching from UAE. The incident took place at Bahrain airspace and the complaint has been forwarded to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). However, Qatar denied the claim and said that UAE is covering its own violations happening at the Qatari airspace. Back in June 2017 Qatar has been banned by UAE along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt in terms of its diplomatic and trade associations.

സ്ത്രീകള്‍ പൊതുസമൂഹം അംഗീകരിക്കുന്ന മാന്യമായ വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചാല്‍ മതിയെന്നും പര്‍ദ്ദ നിര്‍ബന്ധമല്ലെന്നും സൗദി കിരീടാവകാശി മുഹമ്മദ് ബിന്‍ സല്‍മാന്‍ രാജകുമാരന്‍. സ്ത്രീകള്‍ മാന്യമായ വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കണമെന്ന് മാത്രമാണ് ശരിയത്ത് നിയമം അനുശാസിക്കുന്നതെന്നും എന്നാല്‍ ഒരിടത്തും അബായ ആണ് സ്ത്രീകള്‍ ധരിക്കേണ്ടതെന്ന് നിഷ്‌കര്‍ഷിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നും സല്‍മാന്‍ രാജകുമാരന്‍ പറയുന്നു. അമേരിക്കന്‍ ടെലിവിഷന്‍ ചാനലായ സിബിഎസിന് നല്‍കിയ അഭിമുഖത്തിലാണ് സല്‍മാന്‍ രാജകുമാരന്‍ നിലപാട് വ്യക്തമാക്കിയത്. ഇറാന്‍ വിപ്ലവത്തിന് ശേഷമാണ് സൗദി തീവ്ര ഇസ്ലാമിന്റെ പാതയിലെത്തിയത്. അതിന് മുമ്പ് അവര്‍ക്കിവിടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്നും, സിനിമ കാണുവാനും,വാഹനമോടിക്കുവാനും സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് അവകാശമുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി. മാന്യമായ വസ്ത്രം ഏതായാലും അത് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കുകയാണ് വേണ്ടതെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. മുമ്പ് സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള പിഴവുകള്‍ തിരുത്താനുള്ള ശ്രമത്തിലാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു. മുമ്പ് സൗദിയിലെ ഉന്നത മതപണ്ഡിതനും അബായ നിര്‍ബന്ധമല്ലെന്ന് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരുന്നു.
സ്വദേശിവല്‍ക്കരണത്തിന് ഒരുങ്ങി സൗദി വിമാനത്താവളവും
വിദേശ വിമാനക്കമ്പനികളില്‍ സ്വദേശിവല്‍ക്കരണം നടപ്പാക്കി സൗദി അറേബ്യയിലെ വിമാനക്കമ്പനികള്‍. ഇതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ജിദ്ദ ഇന്റര്‍നാഷണല്‍ എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്ന 1500 വിദേശികള്‍ക്ക് പകരം സ്വദേശികളെ നിയമിക്കാന്‍ വിദേശ കമ്പനികള്‍ക്ക് നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കി. സ്വദേശിവല്‍ക്കരണം നടത്തുന്നത് വിവിധ വിമാന കമ്പനി ഏജന്‍സികള്‍, ഗ്രൗണ്ട് സപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് സര്‍വീസ് കമ്പനി എന്നിവടങ്ങളിലാണ്. സ്വദേശികളെ നിയമിക്കണം എന്ന ആവശ്യം ഉടന്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കണമെന്ന് എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ട് ആക്ടിങ് ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറല്‍ എന്‍ജിനീയര്‍ അബ്ദുല്ല അല്‍റൈമി വിദേശ കമ്പനികളോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. സ്വദേശി നിയമനം ലംഘിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്‍ക്കെതിരെ നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കുമെന്ന് അധികൃതര്‍ മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നല്‍കി. നിയമലംഘനം നടക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ എന്നറിയാന്‍ സൗദിവല്‍ക്കരണ സമിതിയും വിവിധ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ വകുപ്പുകള്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന് എയര്‍പ്പോര്‍ട്ടിലെ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളില്‍ പരിശോധന നടത്തും. യോഗ്യരായ സ്വദേശി യുവാക്കളെയാണ് എയര്‍പ്പോര്‍ട്ടിലെ ജോലിക്കായി കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ട് അഡ്മിനിസ്‌ട്രേഷന്‍ വക്താവ് തുര്‍ക്കി അല്‍ ദീബ് പറഞ്ഞു. പ്രവര്‍ത്താനുനമതി നല്‍കിയിട്ടുള്ള സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളില്‍ മിന്നല്‍ പരിശോധന ആരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
UAE – Saudi Arabia rail link by December 2021
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Saudi Arabia rail link will be operational by December 2021. The 2,100 km (1,300 mile) passenger, cargo network, once completed, will connect six GCC states. “By the end of December 2021 we will have a connection between us and the Saudis,” Abdullah Salem Al Kathiri, director general of the Federal Authority for Land and Marine Transport. Phase 2 of Etihad Rail will be linked to Mussafah, to the Khalifa and Jebel Ali Ports, respectively in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and to the Saudi and Omani borders.
Abu Dhabi records tourist inflation in February
The flow of winter travellers to Abu Dhabi marked the highest hotel occupancy rate in February. According to reports, over 100 hotels in the capital city marked full during February. The Department of Tourism and Culture (DTC), Abu Dhabi revels that the figures excel with Asian countries of India and China with the most number of visitors. According to reports, over 34,000 Indian nationals arrived in January that is 31.5 per cent more than the previous year.
