Dubai to gain from travel opening with Israel

Dubai is likely to benefit the most in aviation from the United Arab Emirates’ historic deal to normalize relations with Israel, Bloomberg has reported, gaining a new stream of travellers that can help the Gulf travel hub bounce back from the coronavirus crisis that has decimated air traffic. The agreement between the two countries sets aside decades of enmity, opening ties through air travel, tourism, investment, security and telecommunications. American family makes an offer for controlling stake of Israeli flag carrier, El Al Airlines

Eli Rozenberg, the 30-year-old scion of a New York family in the nursing home business, made his offer on Monday for control of El Al Airlines, Israel’s flag carrier. He said that he and his family were prepared to pay $75 million for an allocation of shares that would give him a 44.99% stake. Israeli airline Arkia to fly direct from Tel Aviv to Goa and Kochi

Israeli airline Arkia will launch direct flights to two new routes to India starting from September 28, 2019. The carrier will begin non-stop flight operations from Tel Aviv to Goa and Kochi with 220 seats and a full flight service on board. With one-way duration of seven hours, Arkia will fly once a week to Goa on Tuesdays and twice a week to Kochi on Mondays and Fridays. Tourism to Israel jumps 11% in January 2019

The number of tourists who visited Israel in January 2019 saw an 11 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. The current statistics also show a 35 per cent increase from January 2017, according to the Tourism Ministry. Israel Tourism registers 13 per cent growth in 2018

Four million tourists visited Israel in 2018, an increase of 13 per cent from 2017. This year saw an increase in tourist arrivals of 13 per cent compared to 2017, and 38 per cent compared to 2016, while tourism revenue exceeded NIS 24 billion ($6.3 billion), according to the ministry. The ministry said the increase is due in part to a NIS 350 million ($93 million) marketing campaign promoting Israel as a travel destination around the world, including, in the US, Germany, Russia, Italy, England, China, Ukraine, Brazil, and the Philippines.
