Tourism ministry introduces courses for guides

The duration of these two courses would be 420 hours and 330 hours, respectively and are open to youth in the age group of 18 to 28 years. Emergency landing for Indigo flight

In a shocking incident after the US-Bangla flight crash at Nepal, an Indigo Airbus A-320 initiated emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport, after finding an engine failure shortly after taking off. All the 186 passengers on board the fight A-320 landed safely after the incident. The flight 6E 244 was on its way to Lucknow from Ahmedabad. Govt approves upgradation of 100 Adarsh monuments

Bhuddhist Remains in Salihundam The Union Minister of State (IC) for Culture and Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Dr. Mahesh Sharma,  has announced the plans for upgradation of 100 Adarsh monuments of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Tourist amenities proposed to be upgraded include the parking, ticket counter, publication counter, cafeteria, toilet block, drinking water facilities, dustbins, benches, ramps (for the differently-abled), pathways, singages, etc. There are around 25 monuments under Phase I and 75 under Phase II. Russia introduces new hyper-sonic missile

Russia, as part of strengthening their military power, had successfully tested the hypersonic missile that travels 10 times the speed of sound. The missile named ‘Kinzhal’ was deployed from a MiG-31 fighter jet that can hit the target more precisely. “The launch was normal; the hypersonic missile hit the preset target on the test site,” said the defence ministry. The missile got the name Kinzhal for its double-edged dragger design. Abu Dhabi records tourist inflation in February

The flow of winter travellers to Abu Dhabi marked the highest hotel occupancy rate in February. According to reports, over 100 hotels in the capital city marked full during February. The Department of Tourism and Culture (DTC), Abu Dhabi revels that the figures excel with Asian countries of India and China with the most number of visitors. According to reports, over 34,000 Indian nationals arrived in January that is 31.5 per cent more than the previous year. Plane crash at Kathmandu Airpot

In a shocking incident, a US-Bangla Airlines drift off from the runway leading to a crash at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. Kerala govt issues advisory regarding trekking

In view of the tragic death of several trekkers during the forest fire in the Kolukkumalai hills of Theni district in Tamil Nadu, the Chief Secretary and the Chairman of State Disaster Management Authority has issued directions to stop trekking to hills and also to ensure that all fire lines are cleared. In view of the situation, the state has issued 6-point instructions with immediate effect. No movement of members of public inside forest areas, without permission will be allowed. Tulip Garden ready to welcome tourists

After the successful launch of sanitary napkin vending machines in Mumbai- Delhi Rajdhani express, GMR airport in Hyderabad too had followed the path, as part of celebrating the international women’s day. According to airport authorities, the programme aims to ensure comfort and encourage hygienic practices among women passengers. Kerala bans trekking in forest area

In the wake of the current forest fire killing atleast 14 in the Kolukkumalai hills in Tamil Nadu, the state government of Kerala has issued a ban in trekking to forest places. All the wildlife sanctuaries have been temporarily closed. The forest fire in the Kurangini hills of Kolukkumalai in Theni has affected the nearby areas of Ramakkalmedu, Pukkulam Hills etc. As the summer has set in, forest fires are a common phenomenon in the forest region. Kolukkumalai fire: 11 dead

Atleast 12 people are reported to be killed in the forest fire at Kurangini hills at Kolukkumalai in Theni district of Tamil Nadu. 25 have been rescued so far. Earlier it was reported that 27 people including 25 women are feared to have been trapped in the severe forest fire atop the Kolukkumalai Hills in Tamil Nadu. But, at present as per the reports many are feared to have been trapped in the fire. Of the nine dead, four are women, four men and a child. Drones mapping villages and towns in Maharashtra

Surveying a village is time consuming and prone to errors. Maharashtra government has found a solution for this by replacing the manual surveys with drone surveys, which they say is very accurate and fast. The Maharashtra government is using drones mounted with high resolution cameras to speed up the exercise of mapping villages and towns in the state. The government has launched a pilot project to survey the areas with the help of camera-fitted drones. The project was launched in Sonori village in Purandar tehsil of Pune district.
