Travel and Tourism Fair kick starts in Hyderabad

A two-day Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) featuring domestic and outbound destinations began at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on Friday, 13th July 2018 The first day of the show was reserved only for travel trade while the second day is open for all, including general public. The two-day travel trade show brings together State tourism boards, national tourist offices, hoteliers, airlines, tour operators and travel agents, online travel companies, railways and cruise lines under one roof, according to a press release.

Jagannath Rath Yathra begins in Puri

The nine-day-long renowned festival of Jagannath Rath Yatra has commenced today in Puri. Lakhs of devotees participate in the festival which mainly consists of pulling the sacred chariots of Hindu deities, Lord Jagannath, Balaram, and Subhadra. Tight security arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of Rath Yatra. It is considered that, by pulling the chariots devotees will get blessings and their wishes will be fulfilled. Kerala Tourism organises roadshow in Odisha

Kerala tourism has organized a roadshow in Bhubaneswar to attract domestic travellers from the state. Kerala is expecting at least 10 per cent domestic tourists from Odisha this year. Around 7-8 per cent tourists from Odisha visited Kerala last year. Kerala tourism eyes to increase it up to 10 per cent this year. The roadshow showcased the presentation of a short 30-minute cultural programme, a visual storytelling that showcased the various art forms of Kerala. Tagged ‘ComeOutandPlay’, the campaign is aimed at domestic travellers who have been seeing Kerala as an antidote to urban experiences and as the antithesis of routine. Mini tourism conclave in Tehri on Aug 7

The tourism department of Dehradun has decided to hold a mini conclave on tourism and wellness industry in Tehri on August 7, ahead of its investors meet. The two-day Investor Summit will be held in October. It was decided that four mini conclaves would be organised by the State Government in Tehri, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Haridwar. Kerala’s backwaters and major rivers are all set for yet another season of traditional boat race – ‘vallam kali’. This year, the government is planning to commence a new concept in boat race - ‘Kerala Boat League’, following the pattern of IPL. “The first nine snake boats (chundan vallam), those display competence in the Nehru Trophy Boat Race will be participating in the KBL,”said the Finance Minister Dr. T M Thomas Issac. He was talking in the General Body Meeting prior to the 66th ‘Nehru Trophy Vallam Kali’.

Mass yoga drill by foreign delegates on International Yoga Day

It was a distinctive experience for the participants and spectators, when people from 23 different countries performed ‘yoga asanas’ in harmony. Yoga experts from 23 different countries assembled to perform yoga in Kochi as part of the Yoga Ambassadors Tour, organized by Association of Tourism Trade Organizations India (ATTOI), in association with Kerala Tourism and Ayush Minstry. Apart from the foreign delegates, people from different parts of the state also participated in the mass yoga demonstration.
