Unauthorized houseboats should be seized – High Court
The High Court has directed the Karma Sena to expedite the process of cracking down on unauthorized houseboats. The yard for seizing and keeping unlicensed houseboats in Alappuzha should be set up within six months. Justice N. Nagaresh directed the Kerala Mari Time Board. The order was passed on a petition filed by the Kerala Houseboat Owners’ Association seeking action against illegally operating houseboats at Punnamada and Vembanad lakes. Sahin Tendulkar to be Chief Guest in Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2018
Kerala’s backwaters and major rivers are all set for yet another season of traditional boat race – ‘vallam kali’. This year, the government is planning to commence a new concept in boat race - ‘Kerala Boat League’, following the pattern of IPL. “The first nine snake boats (chundan vallam), those display competence in the Nehru Trophy Boat Race will be participating in the KBL,”said the Finance Minister Dr. T M Thomas Issac. He was talking in the General Body Meeting prior to the 66th ‘Nehru Trophy Vallam Kali’.

ആലപ്പുഴ പുന്നമടക്കായലില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന നെഹ്‌റു ട്രോഫി വള്ളംകളി മത്സരം മുതല്‍ കൊല്ലം പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌സ് ട്രോഫി വള്ളംകളി മത്സരം വരെ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തി ഐപിഎല്‍ മാതൃകയില്‍ സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ജലമേളകള്‍ ലീഗടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ സംസ്ഥാന ടൂറിസം വകുപ്പ്. കേരള ബോട്ട് റേസ് ലീഗ് എന്ന ഈ വിപുലമായ ജലമേളയില്‍ ആചാരാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പരമ്പരാഗത ജലോത്സവങ്ങള്‍ ഒഴിച്ചുള്ള അഞ്ച് ജില്ലകളിലെ വള്ളംകളികളെ ലീഗടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തും. 2018 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 11 മുതല്‍ നവംബര്‍ 1 വരെ കേരള ബോട്ട് റേസ് ലീഗ് സംഘടിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ മന്ത്രി കടകംപള്ളി സുരേന്ദ്രന്റെ അധ്യക്ഷതയില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന യോഗത്തില്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. ആഗസ്റ്റ് 11 ന് ആലപ്പുഴ പുന്നമടക്കായലില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന നെഹ്രു ട്രോഫി വള്ളംകളി മത്സരം യോഗ്യതാ മത്സരമായി കണക്കാക്കി തുടര്‍ ലീഗ് മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തും. കേരളത്തില്‍ എത്തുന്ന വിനോദസഞ്ചാരികള്‍ക്ക് ആസ്വദിക്കാന്‍ അവസരം ലഭിക്കുന്ന രീതിയിലാണ് ലീഗ് മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുക. മത്സര തീയതികള്‍ നേരത്തെ തന്നെ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര തലത്തില്‍ തന്നെ പ്രചാരണം നടത്തും. ആഗസ്റ്റ് 11 ...
