International Day of Persons with Disabilities is held on 3 December each year and celebrated internationally. SC rules in favour of Travancore royal family in Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple case

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the Travancore royal family has the shebait rights over the  management of Thiruvananthapuram’s iconic Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Domestic tourism in Thiruvananthapuram may get affected by rising coronavirus cases

Kerala Tourism, which is banking on domestic tourism in the wake of the ban on international air travel, has a hurdle to cross. Travel restrictions come into place in Thiruvananthapuram, as Covid-19 cases rise

With the coronavirus community transmission looming, the Thiruvananthapuram city corporation has clamped down on travel, by restricting key entry points and enhancing patrolling of affected areas. The functioning of Palayam and Chalai markets and major shopping centres will be affected as shops can only be opened on alternate days. The police will control the entry of people into public places. This could affect domestic tourists to a great extent.  The decision will be applicable to malls and supermarkets also. Singapore’s Scoot to begin operations in Coimbatore, Trivandrum and Visakhapatnam

Singapore’s low-cost airlines, Scoot, is all set to strengthen its presence in India with the addition of new services to Coimbatore, Trivandrum and Visakhapatnam. Scoot will be the only airline operating direct non-stop flights from Trivandrum and Visakhapatnam to Singapore. Flights from Trivandrum to Singapore will commence on May 7, 2019, and flights from Coimbatore and Visakhapatnam will start from October 27, 2019, subject to regulatory approval. Tourism Ministry sanctions Rs 3 lakh for Navaratri celebrations in Kerala

Tourism Minister for State (I/C), Govt. of India, K J Alphons has sanctioned Rs 3 lakh for the Navaratri celebrations in Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, which is slated to be held on October 21. The amount will be handed over to the Travancore Navaratri Utsava Trust. “The Navratri celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram carries a rich legacy of almost 200 years. It is necessary to protect Kerala’s great historical heritage,” said the minister. The Navaratri festival is celebrated in Travancore from AD 972 onwards. Air Asia and GoAir to operate from Trivandrum

Happy news for people of Trivandrum!. Budget airlines, AirAsia and GoAir to start operations from Trivandrum. The airlines have expressed interest in starting domestic service from Trivandrum International Airport. Air Asia will start services to Bengaluru, while Go Air will have daily flights to Mumbai. Currently, Air Asia do not have service from Trivandrum. However, they had operated from Trivandrum during the floods, when Kochi International Airport was temporary closed. Jet Airways has announced that it will operate additional flights from Thiruvananthapuram, since the water clogged airport of Kochi is still not suitable for operating normal flights. “We are committed in our support to the people impacted due to #KeralaFloods and sincerely hope the situation stabilises soon”, tweeted the airline. Underground museum for Padmanabha Swami Temple

Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam, told the media that the Central Government is willing to build a high-security underground museum near the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram so that devotees can have ‘darshan’ of the treasure.
