The newly operational Kannur International airport has been changing the perspective of tourism in northern Kerala. In order to give the right direction for the development of tourism in the Malabar region and to exploit the unexplored areas, a Tourism Fraternity Meeting was held in Kannur on 7th February 2019. Kannur Airport Services under the union ministry’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme have been launched in Kannur Airport, to provide air travel for Indian cities at low rates. IndiGo launched its first service under the scheme from Friday, 26th January 2019. കണ്ണൂര്‍ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിമാനത്താവളം ഡിസംബര്‍ ഒന്‍പതിന് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യും. വിമാനത്താവളത്തിനുളള ഏറോഡ്രാം ലൈസന്‍സ് വ്യാഴാഴ്ച ഡിജിസിഎ അനുവദിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതേ തുടര്‍ന്നാണ് ഉദ്ഘാടന തീയതി നിശ്ചയിച്ചത്. 3,050 മീറ്റര്‍ റണ്‍വെയാണ് ഇപ്പോഴുളളത്. അത് 4,000 മീറ്ററായി നീട്ടാന്‍ നടപടികള്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2,300 ഏക്കറിലാണ് മികച്ച ആധുനിക സൗകര്യങ്ങളോടെ വിമാനത്താവളം ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുളളത്. യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്കുള്ള ടെര്‍മിനല്‍ ബില്‍ഡിംഗിന്റെ വിസ്തീര്‍ണ്ണം 97,000 ചതുരശ്രമീറ്ററാണ്. 1.05 ലക്ഷം ചതുരശ്രയടിയുളള അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര കാര്‍ഗോ കോംപ്ലക്‌സ് നിര്‍മ്മാണം നടന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.വിമാനത്താവളത്തിനകത്തു തന്നെ നല്ല സൗകര്യമുളള ഹോട്ടലും ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. 24 ചെക്ക് ഇന്‍ കൗണ്ടറുകളും സെല്‍ഫ് ബാഗേജ് ഡ്രോപ്പ് കൗണ്ടറുകളും സെല്‍ഫ് ചെക്കിംഗ് മെഷീനുകളും സജ്ജമായി കഴിഞ്ഞു. വരുന്നവര്‍ക്കും പോകുന്നവര്‍ക്കുമായി 32 ഇമിഗ്രേഷന്‍ കൗണ്ടറുകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകും. ഇതിന്റെ പുറമെ 4 ഇവിസ കൗണ്ടറുകളും ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കസ്റ്റംസ് കൗണ്ടറുകള്‍ 16 എണ്ണമാണ്. 6 ഏറോ ബ്രിഡ്ജുകളാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയായിട്ടുളളത്. ബോയിംഗ് 777 പോലുളള വലിയ വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ ഇറങ്ങുന്നതിനുളള എല്ലാ സജ്ജീകരണങ്ങളും വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലുണ്ട്. 20 വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒരേ ... Kannur International Airport will start its commercial operations on 9th December 2018. The inauguration date is announced after the airport has received the aerodrome licence to start commercial flight operations from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday, 4th October 2018. The Kerala Travel Mart 2018 has kick-started in Kochi at the Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolghatty on September 27, with the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan officially inaugurating the event by lighting the traditional lamp. More than 1600 buyers from India and abroad are in Kochi to participate in the Kerala Travel Mart. Celebi Airport Services, a global service provider in ground handling services, has won the bid for the ground handling services of Kannur International Airport (KIAL). . This will be Celebi’s sixth airport in India including Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, which they won in June 2018. The other airports they are handling the ground operations in India are Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kochi. Ground handling services include baggage-handling, aircraft cleaning and servicing, loading and unloading of food and beverages and movement of cargo, among others.
