Israeli airline Arkia Airlines Ltd. announce to introduce flights to Goa and Cochin in the state of Kerala. Arkia is joining El Al Israel Airlines Ltd., which operates direct flights to Mumbai, and Air India, which flies from Tel Aviv to Delhi on a shorter route passing above Saudi Arabia. The new flights will start operating from September 2019 using recently acquired Airbus 321neoLR airliners. Kannur Airport Services under the union ministry’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme have been launched in Kannur Airport, to provide air travel for Indian cities at low rates. IndiGo launched its first service under the scheme from Friday, 26th January 2019. Kannur International Airport will start its commercial operations on 9th December 2018. The inauguration date is announced after the airport has received the aerodrome licence to start commercial flight operations from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday, 4th October 2018. Çelebi Airport Services, a global service provider in ground handling services, has bagged the ground handling services at Kerala’s newest airport, Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL). Kannur airport will be Çelebi’s sixth airport in India after Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, where the company won the ground handling license in June 2018. The partnership with KIAL is the company’s second win in the state after Cochin International Airport. This will be Celebi’s sixth airport in India including Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, which they won in June 2018.
