New integrated terminal bldg in Guwahati

The Chief Minister of Assam Sarbanand Sonwal P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Integrated Terminal Building at LGBI airport in Guwahati. “Guwahati, our jewel of pride in the North-East, is all set to emerge as an aviation hub, augmenting the much needed capacity in the region,” said Ashok Gajapathi after the foundation stone laying ceremony. The terminal consists of the departure lobby, waiting lounge, check-in counters and boarding lobby. “This new terminal building will further boost regional and South East Asian connectivity,” said Sarbanand.

Assam calls film makers; plans to aid production

The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has decided to fund a new feature film ‘Unread Pages’ directed by Jahnu Barua. The first film under the state tourism policy will be produced jointly by Hollywood-based Ivanhoe Pictures and Mumbai-based Easterly Entertainment. The film’s main aim is to give exposure to the scenic beauty of Assam on an international platform. It will also be an official announcement of an India-US co-production of a story from Assam for an international audience. It will also be Barua’s first international film. Medaram to be made top tourist hub

Telangana government is planning to set up amphitheatre, tribal museum, food court and cottages at Medaram and develop it as a permanent tourist destination. The State government had already brought up Haritha tourism hotel for Rs 7.5 crore and tribal museum for Rs 2 crore. “The tourists are coming to Medaram all along the year hence it has been decided to develop Medaram as permanent tourist attraction. We will bring up amphitheatre, tribal museum, food court, cottages for VIPs etc,” said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari. Ancient Route to Char Dham to be Revived

The Char Dham are four places (Badrinath, Dwaraka, Puri and Rameswaram) which is considered to be the places which will help them attain nirvana. Tourism kiosk opens at Tirupati railway station

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has opened an information counter at the first platform of Tirupati railway station. The kiosk was inaugurated by APTDC Chairman V Jayarami Reddy in the presence of Tirupati Station Director K Satyanarayana. “The counter will be of immense use to pilgrims who visit Tirupati. They can get entire information about all tourism destinations in the state from the counter and plan their programmes during their pilgrimage,” Jayarami Reddy said. Air India inducts brand new Boeing 777 for VVIP purposes

Air India celebrates the induction of its latest Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, which will be one of the two new planes to be used for VVIP purposes. The new aircraft is among the last three Boeing 777 aircraft remaining from an order of 68 Boeing aircraft placed by the Air India in 2006. The plane took off from Everett in Washington at 12 pm local time and landed in Delhi at 7.31 pm, completing its journey in a record 14 hours and 10 minutes. UDAN II to link 43 airports

Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju today said the UDAN Phase 2 will connect 43 airports and helipads in the priority sector, the North-East and the hill states. The minister was speaking at the Award of Regional Connectivity Flights after Second round of Bidding under RCS Udan in New Delhi. States with maximum number of airports and helipads seeing activation under UDAN 2 are Uttarakhand (15), Uttar Pradesh (9), Arunachal Pradesh (8) and Himachal Pradesh (6) and Assam and Manipur (5 each).  “Kargil will be connected by airport for the first time. Budget 2018: What’s in for Tourism?

Kishtwar-Sinthan Top circuit gets Rs 7.37 cr

Photo Courtesy: J&K Tourism The Government of India has sanctioned Rs 7.37 crore tourism projects for the development of tourism infrastructure on Kishtwar- Sinthan Top circuit, in Jammu and Kashmir. “Rs 5.89 crore have been released in the first instance for taking up various components envisaged in the tourism project at Sinthan Top, Dedpath and Mughal Maidan,” said Minister of State for Tourism, Priya Sethi in the Assembly. However, the works on some components were delayed due to litigation and non-issuance of forest clearance.
