Kargil to have full-fledged airport for commercial flights

The Jammu & Kashmir government has said that the Kargil Airport will be developed into a full-fledged airport for commercial flight operations. BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir government held a meeting in New Delhi with Union Secretary, Civil Aviation and other Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials including Member Planning, AAI for development of existing Kargil Airport for full operation of commercial flights including Boeing, Airbus, etc. The MoU with AAI is expected to be signed by July, 15. Jammu Kashmir to promote Seri-tourism

Jammu and Kashmir’s Sericulture and Tourism departments are planning to introduce ‘Seri-Tourism’ as a joint venture to promote both the sectors for enhancing the livelihood opportunities, a senior government official has said. Under the first phase, model mulberry gardens of highly improved Japanese mulberry plants would be established at the Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC), Sidhra and the Royal Springs Golf Course (RSGC) in Srinagar during this season, said Secretary, Tourism, Rigzin Samphael at a meeting here on Saturday. Winter season induce tourist inflow to Kashmir

Arrival of winter in Kashmir helped the tourism sector valley, as most of the hotels and guest houses in Kashmir’s Gulmarg and Jammu’s Patnitop are full, as tourists from across the country have been flocking to enjoy the cold weather and snow. “Today both Gulmarg and Patnitop are witnessing 100 per cent occupancy. Baramulla rail link to be extended to Kupwara in north Kashmir

The Central government has approved the extension of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link up to Kupwara in north Kashmir, with an objective to expand connectivity in J&K. “I am glad to inform you that the railways has prioritized the extension of the rail link from Baramulla to Kupwara and has sanctioned an updated survey for it,” Anil Srivastava, Adviser (Transport) NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog, said in his message to J&K Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam on Thursday, 29th November 2018. Jammu-Kashmir to go for PPP model projects in tourism

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has launched a scheme, ‘Viability Gap Scheme’ for exploiting and encouraging private investment in Tourism Sector on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. It was informed by the Secretary, Tourism Department, Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday . “Private companies intending to make investment under PPP mode can contact the office of Directorate of Tourism Jammu/Kashmir and Chief Executives Officer of various Development Authorities of Tourism Department,” said the Tourism Secretary. Kashmir tourism plans to woo south Indian tourists

Kashmir tourism department is planning to have country wide promotion campaigns in association with the private sector. Kargil Ladakh Tourism Festival 2018 commences

Haji Inayat Ali, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Advisor to the governor,  have inaugurated the two-day Kargil Ladakh Tourism Festival-2018 at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium at Biamathang Kargil. The two-day event features multi-ethnic traditional music and dance performances by folk artists of different ethnic groups of the region including Purgi, Dalti, Dardi. Kashmir needs more 5-star hotels: TAAI Convention

If tourism needs to get a boost in the Kashmir valley, it needs to raise civic infrastructure and build institutional framework within tourism industry so that the benefits reach the local economy and help common people. “Limited number of five-star hotels in Kashmir is a lacuna that needs to be overcome. Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister ‘Tassaduq Hussain Mufti’ is on a new mission to promote tourism of the state. Besides social media campaigns the state offers new festivals and fairs to attract audience participation, that further enhances destination marketing. Creating new destination-based promotional films on the most traffic destinations namely Mata Vaishno Devi, Basohli and Patnitop are been highlighted by the minister. With an aim to promote adventure and snow tourism in Bhaderwah Valley, the Bhadarwah Development Authority (BDA) in collaboration with Jammu Kashmir Tourism Department and Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering (JIM) is planning to organise a week-long training workshop from March 19. Photo Courtesy: OTV An infiltration bid by militants has been foiled on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district. India and Pakistani troops on Tuesday exchanged fire along LoC in Rajouri and Uri. No casualties have been reported so far. “Noticing suspicious movement in Gohalan area on Monday, alert troops fired forcing the infiltrating militants to flee back,” Defence Ministry sources said.  “Pakistan Army started firing at Indian positions immediately after the infiltrators were forced to withdraw.
