Good news for travelers! No need special permission to go to protected areas in Ladakh!
The Union Territory of Ladakh has lifted the terms of its Inner Line Permit to attract more domestic tourists. Indian tourists no longer need special permits to enter here. An Inner Line Permit is prior permission to visit protected areas along the China-Pakistan border. In a notification issued yesterday, the Ladakh UT Home Department completely removed the requirement for ILP to visit notified protected areas for Indian citizens, including domestic tourists and local residents. Indigo adds Leh, the land of Buddhist Monasteries to its domestic network
In order to further strengthen domestic connectivity, IndiGo, India’s leading carrier, announced Leh, the land of Buddhist Monasteries to its domestic network as its 63rd domestic destination. The bookings are now open as the airline will commence daily flights between Delhi-Leh effective February 22, 2021. Leh, the capital of Ladakh is known for its magnificent landscapes, crystal clear skies, adventurous activities, Buddhist Monasteries, and festivals. Air Force team undertakes Chadar trek expedition
To commemorate the momentous occasion of 70th Republic Day, AF Station Thoise conducted a trekking expedition in the daunting terrain of Ladakh region. This arduous expedition on the frozen Zanskar river was undertaken by the air warriors of Air Force Station, Thoise. The team leader and overall coordinator of this adventurous expedition was Wg Cdr Vikrant Uniyal, a qualified mountaineer from Army Mountaineering Institute, Siachen. The expedition team comprising seven air warriors covered a total distance of 65 kms in five days through a treacherous route on the frozen Zanskarriver. Freezing temperature in Ladakh prompts winter sports
One of the coldest times of the season, the temperature of Ladkh has not been going above the freezing point from the beginning of December. The nights are chilling and temperatures hover around -20°C. Days are still bearable with 2°C as average temperature. Today, 29th December, the temperature is -17 °C Most highways are closed and Ladakh remains practically inaccessible during these months. Frostbites are common and most locals develop scales and cracks on their skins. Government opens up new routes for tourists in Ladakh
Buoyed by the success of many tourism initiatives under Prime Minister’s Development Package-2015, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir has taken yet another leap by proposing to open up more tourists/trekking routes in the region of Ladakh with the aim of recapturing the glory, rich culture and beauty of the region. With the objective of giving fillip to the tourism sector and enhancing the economic activity in the “Land of High Passes” (Ladakh region) of J&K, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the proposal of State Government of J&K to open up more tourists/trekking routes in the region. Ladakh Tour Operators Association to restore trekking route
In yet another positive initiative, a team of volunteers from All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA) with support of Stakmo villagers set off on a trekking recce from Sabu to Egoo village on November 12, 2018. This trek can be further extended to Sachukul near Pangong Lake. Post flash flood the trek route needs restoration at few places. The main idea is to sustain the trekking culture in Ladakh and to promote inbound business. ലഡാക്ക്: ഇന്ഡസ് നദീമുഖത്തെ ചാന്ദ്രനഗരം
ജമ്മു കാശ്മീരിലെ ഇന്ഡസ് നദിതീരത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ലഡാക്ക് സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര കേന്ദ്രമാണ്. മൂണ് ലാന്റ്, ബ്രോക്കണ് മൂണ് എന്നീ പേരുകളിലും ലഡാക്ക് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. മനോഹരമായ തടാകങ്ങള്, ആശ്രമങ്ങള്, ഭൂപ്രദേശം, കൊടുമുടികള് എന്നിവയാല് സമൃദ്ധമാണ് ലഡാക്ക്. സമുദ്രനിരപ്പില് നിന്ന് 3500 മീറ്റര് മുകളിലാണ് ലഡാക്കിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം. ലോകത്തെ പ്രമുഖ പര്വത മേഖലകളായ കാരക്കോണത്തിനും ഹിമാലയത്തിനും ഇടയിലാണ് ലഡാക്ക്. കൂടാതെ ലഡാക്ക് താഴ്വരക്ക് സമാന്തരമായി സന്സ്കാര് ലഡാക്ക് മേഖല കൂടി കടന്നു പോവുന്നു. വലിയൊരു തടാകമായിരുന്ന ലഡാക്ക് പിന്നീട് വര്ഷങ്ങള് കടന്നുപോയപ്പോള് താഴ്വരയായി രൂപപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നെന്നാണ് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ജമ്മു കാശ്മീരിലെ പ്രമുഖ നാട്ടുരാജ്യമായിരുന്ന ലഡാക്ക് തിബത്തന് രാജാക്കന്മാരായിരുന്നു ഭരിച്ചിരുന്നത്. പതിനെട്ടാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ ആദ്യകാലത്ത് ലഡാക്കും ബാള്ട്ടിസ്ഥാനും ജമ്മു കാശ്മീര് മേഖലയിലേക്ക് ചേര്ക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 1947ല് ഇന്ത്യാ വിഭജന സമയത്ത് ബാള്ട്ടിസ്ഥാന് പാകിസ്ഥാനിലേക്കു പോയി. ബുദ്ധമതമാണ് ഇവിടത്തെ പ്രധാന മതം. ലഡാക്കിലെ പ്രമുഖ ആകര്ഷണങ്ങളില് ആശ്രമം അഥവാ ഗോമ്പാസും ഉള്പ്പെടും. ഹെമിസ് ആശ്രമം, സങ്കര് ഗോമ്പ, മാത്തോ ആശ്രമം, ശേ ഗോമ്പ, ... Ladakh has been awarded as the ‘Best Adventure Tourism Destination’ in Outlook Traveller Awards 2018 held in New Delhi. “The tourism department has taken concerted efforts to promote adventure tourism and sports in Ladakh. Trekking activities like Chadar trek on the frozen Zanskar River, hiking to Stok Kangri (6121 m) and Nun and Kun Peaks (7135 m), besides biking to Pangong Lake are popular activities attracting a large number of travellers.
