Government opens up new routes for tourists in Ladakh

Buoyed by the success of many tourism initiatives under Prime Minister’s Development Package-2015, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir has taken yet another leap by proposing to open up more tourists/trekking routes in the region of Ladakh with the aim of recapturing the glory, rich culture and beauty of the region. North Bengal likely to open 89 more trekking routes

With an aim to attract more tourists and promote tourist in the state, the West Bengal Tourism Department has recently sanctioned 89 trekking routes in north Bengal. “Measures will be taken to ensure safety of visitors opting to go for trekking,” said WBTD. Besides Darjeeling, the tourism department has discovered quite a few trekking routes in the Dooars region too. Lodges/small cottages are available along the routes for the trekkers. The tourism department is expecting that opening routes in Darjeeling and Dooars region will help in creating employment opportunities in regions that are socio-economically backward.
