West Bengal plans to appoint Tourism Consultants

Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkatta West Bengal Tourism Department is planning to appoint a consultant to provide detailed report on how to develop tourism infrastructure in the state. As per sources, Chief Minister Mamta Banarjee wanted to showcase West Bengal as one of the world class tourism destination. The government also envisages generation of employment opportunities in the tourism sector. North Bengal likely to open 89 more trekking routes

With an aim to attract more tourists and promote tourist in the state, the West Bengal Tourism Department has recently sanctioned 89 trekking routes in north Bengal. “Measures will be taken to ensure safety of visitors opting to go for trekking,” said WBTD. Besides Darjeeling, the tourism department has discovered quite a few trekking routes in the Dooars region too. Lodges/small cottages are available along the routes for the trekkers.
