Assam Tourism launches ‘Guwahati Heritage Walk’ to promote culture and heritage

World’s largest river island, Majuli island in Assam In a bid to promote the heritage, history, and culture of Guwahati city, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has launched Guwahati Heritage Walk, to showcase the heritage sites of the city to the domestic and foreign tourists through the morning commute. Jayanta Malla Baruah, Chairman, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), launched the tour recently in the presence of tour operators and association members. Indian Railway’s first fully branded train set off from Assam

Assam is having the first train of Indian Railways to be fully branded with a state government publicity campaign. The 12552/12251 Kamakhya-Yesvantpur- Kamakhya AC Express became the first Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) train to be used for promoting the brand ‘Awesome Assam’ of the Assam Tourism Department. The train was flagged off by tourism minister Chandan Brahm and chairperson of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) Jayanta Malla Baruah in presence NFR officials at Kamakhya Railway Station on 27th February 2019. IIE organizes adventure tourism fest in Assam

Assam’s tourism revenue doubled in 2017

Assam’s tourism revenue has almost doubled in 2017-18, when compared to the earnings in 2016-17. The profit (before tax) of the corporation has almost doubled from Rs 2.24 crore in 2016-17 to Rs 4.22 crore in 2017-18. “The inflow of domestic and foreign tourists has gone up noticeably and the occupancy of hotels, even in the off-season, has increased by about 20 per cent. Assam calls film makers; plans to aid production

The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has decided to fund a new feature film ‘Unread Pages’ directed by Jahnu Barua. The first film under the state tourism policy will be produced jointly by Hollywood-based Ivanhoe Pictures and Mumbai-based Easterly Entertainment. The film’s main aim is to give exposure to the scenic beauty of Assam on an international platform. It will also be an official announcement of an India-US co-production of a story from Assam for an international audience. It will also be Barua’s first international film.
