Andhra Pradesh to promote homestays in rural areas

Andhra Pradesh Tourism department plans to promote the concept of homestays in areas where commercial accommodation providers are less in the Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts. This is as part of the state’s second phase of rural tourism development plans. Relevant places from these districts will be selected and included in the tour packages. The authorities envisage identifying three villages in every district for developing rural tourism. 37 villages with scope of rural tourism in all 13 districts of the State have already been identified and out of them, 17 have been finalized and five clusters were formed. From the press meet The 3rd Edition of the Dwijing Festival will be held from December 27, 2018, and continue till January 7, 2019. It was officially announced on 19th December 2018, in a press conference held at Novotel, Guwahati. IIE organizes adventure tourism fest in Assam

IIE Officials at the press meeting at Guwahati (Picture Courtesy: Manash Das) Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) is organizing ‘North East Adventure Tourism Festival’ at Bogamati in Baksa district of Assam, from 13th to 16th September 2018. Priyanka Chopra’s Assam Tourism ad nominated for ‘OSCAR for Ad Films’

The Assam Tourism ad featuring the state’s brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra, has been nominated for an award which is considered to be the ‘Oscar for Ad Films’. The state’s rich culture is beautifully captured in this 3.30-minute long video. The ad film features the traditional masked dancers of Majuli and the cymbal-clanging Bhortal dancers from Barpeta and Guwahati. Assam calls film makers; plans to aid production

The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has decided to fund a new feature film ‘Unread Pages’ directed by Jahnu Barua. The first film under the state tourism policy will be produced jointly by Hollywood-based Ivanhoe Pictures and Mumbai-based Easterly Entertainment. The film’s main aim is to give exposure to the scenic beauty of Assam on an international platform. It will also be an official announcement of an India-US co-production of a story from Assam for an international audience. It will also be Barua’s first international film.
