Rural tourism helps Chines village to overcome poverty

Gansu Province of north-central China helped 31,000 households with about 130,000 people rise out of poverty by developing rural tourism in 2018, the provincial tourism authorities said. “Rural tourism areas received up to 85.2 million visitors last year, and the income of rural tourism hit USD2.43 billion, depicting an increase of 21.1 per cent and 29.4 per cent respectively,” said Chen Weizhong, head of the provincial department of culture and tourism. Andhra Pradesh to promote homestays in rural areas

Andhra Pradesh Tourism department plans to promote the concept of homestays in areas where commercial accommodation providers are less in the Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts. This is as part of the state’s second phase of rural tourism development plans. Relevant places from these districts will be selected and included in the tour packages. Andhra Pradesh plans to boost rural and temple tourism

During the Masula Beach Festival at Manginapudi, Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu said the potential of rural and temple tourism was yet to be tapped in the state. “The tourism sector will be able to contribute in a big way to the State’s economy.
