Kerala beefs up security in tourism destinations

In the wake of the recent death of Latvian tourist in the state, Kerala Tourism Department has decided to strengthen the tourism police force in the state, and is also planning to recruit more women to the force. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, has informed informed this after a meeting held with senior tourism and police officials. Wind park to come up in Alappuzha

As part of its agri-tourism project in the Chembakassery area of Alappuzha, the Pattanakkad panchayat is planning to set up a wind park in the village. The wind park is expected to be open to the public by August 2018. The panchayat is planning to begin the work on the project by the end of May. The park will be constructed close to the Chembakassery paddy fields on the Padmakshi Kavala-Andhakaranazhi road. Lucknow, Chennai and Guwahati airports get a makeover

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to for expansion and upgradation of integrated terminals at Chennai, Guwahati & Lucknow Airports, at a cost of Rs 2467 crore, Rs 1383 crore and Rs 1232 crore, respectively. Construction of New Integrated Terminal at Lucknow airport will have an area of 88,000 sqm along with the existing terminal building with 16292 sqm. The airport will have annual capacity to handle 2.6 million international and 11 million domestic passenger traffic. Foreign tourist inflow to double in 3 yrs: Tourism Min

The Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Tourism, Gvt of India, K J Alphons said that the government is taking all measures to double the tourists inflow in India in next three years. ‘Foreign tourist inflow in India last year grew by 15.6 per cent and receipts grew by 20.2 per cent. Our targets are very high and we want to double the tourist inflow and receipts in three years,’ he said. Special pilgrimage train for senior citizens

A special pilgrimage train for senior citizens, under the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana, has been flagged off from Sambalpur station by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The train will take senior citizens to Shirdi, Nasik and Trimbakeshwar during the seven-day tour. As many as 998 senior citizens from 10 districts of the western region of the state boarded the train after the flag off , which was performed through video conferencing.
