Chardham yatra to begin on Saturday

The Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand will begin on Saturday after its prolonged suspension due to COVID-19. A day after the Uttarakhand High Court vacated its stay on Chardham Yatra, the state government on Friday issued a detailed SOP to start the yatra from Saturday with strict adherence to COVID-19 norms. Imposing a daily limit on the number of pilgrims visiting the Himalayan temples, the SOP put a cap of 1,000 pilgrims daily on Badrinath, 800 on Kedarnath, 600 on Gangotri and 400 on Yamunotri. Mana Herbal Park, the tallest herbal park in India, has been opened to the tourists. This herbal park is located in the village of Mana in the Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. The park is located at an elevation of 11000 ft above sea level. Situated on the Indo-China border, this place is rich in flora and fauna. The Herbal Park was recently established by the government. Jim Corbett National Park opens; The beginning of a year-long tourism

Jim Corbett National Park is famous for the presence of tigers. The park is located in Nainital, Uttarakhand, and is considered to be the first national park in India. The park, which was closed due to the covid, is now reported to be open to tourists. It is a part of the year-long tourism. Legendary Bollywood star actor, Amitabh Bachchan is soon expected to host a reality show to promote Uttarakhand tourism. Uttarakhand Cabinet has taken a decision on this, at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. The show named ‘100 Days in Heaven’, will be hosted by the veteran Bollywood actor, which will be telecasted on several TV news and entertainment channels. The four pilgrim destinations Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath in Uttarakhand, are collectively known as Chardham. Issuing the notification, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has issued orders to provide financial incentives and other facilities under the policy. Uttarakhand tourism to introduce mobile houses in tourist spots

Photo for representative purpose only Uttarakhand government is planning to introduce mobile caravans or motor homes equipped with all facilities available in a house, to attract tourists to the major tourist destinations. The state also envisages encouragement of home-stay facilities in the outskirts of trekking tracks and hill stations. “We are working on a plan to introduce fleets of mobile caravans equipped with all facilities available in homes, which will be introduced soon. Uttarakhand appoints Adventure Sports Officer in Rishikesh

The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) has appointed an adventure sports officer in Rishikesh. The appointment has been made in order to take care of the interests of those in the white water rafting business, facilitate swift redressal of problems faced in the sector and ensure disciplined operation of the river rafting business. Uttarakhand to focus on ‘Gotra Tourism’ to woo travellers

In an effort to promote ‘Gotra’ (clan lineage), the Uttarakhand Government plans to to offer ‘gotra tourism’ packages to tourists. According to Hindu culture, ‘gotra’ or clan broadly refers to people who are descendants in an unbroken male line from a common male ancestor or patriline. The progeny of seven sages or saptarshi, Gautama and Bharadvāja, Viśvāmitra and Jamadagni, Vashishtha and Kaśhyapa and Shandilya are declared to be gotras. Ban on night stay at Corbett Tiger Reserve affects tourism

Tourists visit in the Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) has declined to more than half after the high court order banning night stay at the forest rest houses and restricted movement of vehicles in the reserve area. Thirteen new hill stations to come up in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said the state was in the process of developing 13 new hill stations to give a boost to tourism as older destinations such as Nainital and Mussoorie had reached saturation.
