International yoga festival kicks off in Rishikesh

International yoga festival, organised jointly by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board and Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, has kick started in Rishikesh. “The practice of yoga has paved the way for happiness and peace for humans,” said Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat after inaugurating the event. Referring to Rishikesh as the Yoga capital of the world, he said that Yoga had helped India gain a special identity in the international community. Uttarakhand appoints Adventure Sports Officer in Rishikesh

The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) has appointed an adventure sports officer in Rishikesh. The appointment has been made in order to take care of the interests of those in the white water rafting business, facilitate swift redressal of problems faced in the sector and ensure disciplined operation of the river rafting business. KS Negi, who has been appointed the adventure sports officer will shortly assume charge at the tourist information centre in Rishikesh. Uttarakhand unveils new Tourism Policy

  Union tourism Minister K J Alphonse has unveiled the new Tourism Policy of Uttarakhand on 8th October 2018. He was participating in the ‘Destination Uttarakhand Investors Summit 2018. Yes Bank was the ‘Knowledge Partner’ of the new Uttarakhand Tourism Policy 2018. With the new policy, Tourism gets ‘Industry’ status and thereby creating investment opportunity for investors through favorable incentives, subsidies and provisions. Ban on adventure sports likely to be lifted before September

The Uttarakhand cabinet has recently gave nod to the new rafting and adventure sports regulations and in view of this the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board said it was confident that the ban would be lifted before September. “The high court had banned adventure sports in the state from June 22 due to the absence of a transparent regulation policy. “Since we have a policy in place, we are now in the position to resume the adventure sports activities. Uttarakhand calls for bloggers to promote tourism  

The Uttarakhand government has called for bloggers from allover the country to have a trip on ‘bloggers bus’ to four Cham Dham destinations. The bus which was flagged off from Rishikesh with eight passengers on Thursday, intends to promote the journey through blogs. The bloggers will also have the chance to cover the three-day Tehri Lake festival which commences on Friday. The first hop bus was flagged off from Rishikesh on May 16th. Asia’s biggest lake festival to be held at Uttarakhand in May

The much awaited 3-day water sports and cultural event, the Tehri Lake festival, is scheduled to be held from 25 to 27 May 2018.
