Kerala’s tourism minister to undergo self-quarantine

Kerala’s Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran will undergo self-quarantine after an employee at his official residence tested COVID-19 positive. On Tuesday, all employees at the Minister’s residence and office underwent an antigen test. It is reported that the Minister tested coronavirus negative. However, Kadakampally stated that he decided to enter self-quarantine from Tuesday afternoon as a precaution. The Minister has directed all of his employees, who worked with the COVID positive person, to enter self-quarantine.Kadakampally Surendran, who is in charge of the COVID-19 prevention activities in Thiruvananthapuram, had attended various meetings since Tuesday morning. Kerala plans economic proposal to revive industry: Tourism minister Surendran

Kerala tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran has stated that the government will come up with a new economic proposal in the next few days, listing a clutch of measures to help the industry survive the corona crisis. He said tourism secretary Rani George has submitted a note to the government, which will now be considered for discussion and subsequent ratification. Kerala announces new schedule for Champions Boat League races

Kerala Tourism has announced rescheduled dates for Champions Boat League (CBL), the country’s first-ever boat racing patterned on the IPL format of cricket. Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran said that the CBL would start on August 31 alongside the illustrious Nehru Trophy Boat Race and would end on November 23 on the sidelines of the President’s Trophy at Kollam. Originally slated to begin on August 10, the championship will retain its essential features, as nine teams are to vie for top honours and prize monies totalling Rs 5.9 crore. The four-day Wayanad Splash 2019, organised in association with the State Tourism Department and Wayanad Tourism Organisation to showcase the numerous tourist attractions and activities in Wayanad, has concluded. Kerala to set up SPV for the conduct of Champions’ Boat League

Kerala Government has decided to form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the conduct of the IPL-model Champions’ Boat League (CBL) as an annual event in August-November, showcasing Kerala’s famed snake-boat race in the backwaters in six districts across the state as a world class experience. The decision was announced by state Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran at a meeting of stakeholders, jointly held with Finance Minister Dr T M Thomas Isaac. The company, primarily intended to generate revenue through telecast rights, advertisements and sponsorships for conducting the premier event, will also decide on the revenue sharing among the stakeholders. Yoga ambassadors endorse the possibilities of Yoga tourism in Thekkady. Yoga exponents from 22 countries were gathered together in Thekkady as part of the Yoga Ambassadors Tour 2018, organized by Association of Tourism Trade Organization India (ATTOI), in association with Ministry of Ayush and Kerala Tourism. Yoga Tour draws global attention

Yoga Ambassadors Tour 2018, organized by Association of Tourism Trade Organizations India (ATTOI) draws global attention. Two crew from France-2 channel have reached Kerala to cover the event. The team include reporter Quesa and cameraman Giona. They have been filming the yoga practice of the delegates and interviewed some of them. Uday Samudra’s Satvic dinner is a hit among YAT delegates

By catering the indigenous tastes of Kerala, Hotel Uday Samudra, Kovalam, delighted the delegates of the Yoga Tour on the second day of the tour. The yogis were taking their dinner, after an eventful day in Kovalam and Kanyakumari. Muthirakkanji, drumstick leaves thoran, vazhachudu mezhukkupuratti, (dish made of plantain stem) pavakka varutharachath (bitter gourd dish) etc. were the main course of dinner. Spectacular yoga demonstration by Yoga Ambassadors at Kovalam

Day two of the yoga tour started with a yoga session at the Leela Raviz Kovalam. All the sixty yoga ambassadors took part in the one hour long morning yoga session.   The session was lead by Dr Arun Tejas of Sri Chithra Institute, Thiruvananthapuram. “I’m following the techniques and asanas as prescribed by the AYUSH ministry’s common yoga protocol,” said Dr Arun after the session.
