Firing on LoC in Uri sector

Photo Courtesy: OTV An infiltration bid by militants has been foiled on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district. India and Pakistani troops on Tuesday exchanged fire along LoC in Rajouri and Uri. No casualties have been reported so far. “Noticing suspicious movement in Gohalan area on Monday, alert troops fired forcing the infiltrating militants to flee back,” Defence Ministry sources said.  “Pakistan Army started firing at Indian positions immediately after the infiltrators were forced to withdraw. Maharashtra to ban hookah parlours

From March 2018, it would not be possible to spot a hookah parlour in Maharashtra as the state government is planning to ban the same. Following the recent fire at two restaurants in Kamala Mills area that claimed 14 lives, the state government has moved a proposal to ban hookah parlours by initiating an amendment in the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). Alert: Strong rush of 45km/h wind to blow over UAE

The National Centre of Meteorology sends an alert saying fresh to strong winds is likely to continue over the Arabian Gulf and rough to very rough sea at times with wave height 8-10/12 ft till Tuesday morning. In its daily weather forecast, the NCM said that fresh to strong Northwesterly wind and rough sea in Oman sea offshore areas with wave height 4-6/8 ft till Tuesday afternoon. Dubai Tour back on track

The race will see teams of cyclists from all over the world flocking to Dubai to take part. Assam calls film makers; plans to aid production

The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has decided to fund a new feature film ‘Unread Pages’ directed by Jahnu Barua. The first film under the state tourism policy will be produced jointly by Hollywood-based Ivanhoe Pictures and Mumbai-based Easterly Entertainment. The film’s main aim is to give exposure to the scenic beauty of Assam on an international platform. It will also be an official announcement of an India-US co-production of a story from Assam for an international audience. It will also be Barua’s first international film. Medaram to be made top tourist hub

Telangana government is planning to set up amphitheatre, tribal museum, food court and cottages at Medaram and develop it as a permanent tourist destination. The State government had already brought up Haritha tourism hotel for Rs 7.5 crore and tribal museum for Rs 2 crore. “The tourists are coming to Medaram all along the year hence it has been decided to develop Medaram as permanent tourist attraction. Ancient Route to Char Dham to be Revived
