Singapore Tourism inks deal with Paytm, offers huge discounts

Paytm, India’s mobile-first financial services platform, has become a household name in the country within a short span. Understanding the potential of Paytm and its reach among 300 million active users, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has recently entered into a strategic partnership with Paytm to joint run promotions on its platform to promote Singapore tourism. This deal has made STB the first National Tourism Organisation (NTO) to partner with Paytm. Tourism department plans one-day trip for students

Picture for representational purpose only With an aim to familiarise popular destinations in Madurai, the Tourism Department of the state is all set to take financially poor students for a one-day trip around favourite spots in Madurai for free. The department will select eligible students from various schools before taking them for the trip. As many as 150 select students will travel on three buses on the tour day. India’s first Funicular Trolley is ready to roll

Photo Courtesy: indiatv Finally, the tourists/pilgrims who throng the famed Saptashrungi Devi hilltop temple in Nasik, Maharashtra, will be able to hop on India’s first Funicular Trolley from March 4 onwards. The project was announced in January 2010. The trolley will zoom up the 1,400 metres tall Saptashrungi Hills in the picturesque north end of Western Ghats to the temple atop. It will have an elevation of almost 330 feet and will enable pilgrims to reach the top of the hill within three minutes. UAE to host conference on wetlands in October

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Ramsar Convention Secretariat have signed an agreement to host a major conference on wetlands in October in Dubai in October. The ‘Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP13)’ will be hosted in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, the official sponsor, from October 21 to 30. February 2nd is considered World Wetlands Day. This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Each year since 1997, the Ramsar Secretariat has provided materials to help raise public awareness about the importance and value of wetlands. Jodrell bank observatory for UNESCO world heritage status

Jodrell bank, a British observatory situated at the Lower Withington, United Kingdom, has been nominated as the UNESCO world heritage site. Built-in 1945 by Sir Bernard Lovell, a radio astronomer, the observatory was built to investigate cosmic rays. It manages a number of radio telescopes as part of the Jodrell bank centre for Astrophysics. The main telescope in the observatory is the Lovell Telescope, which is the third largest turntable telescope followed by Mark 2, grade 1 and grade 2.
