Ladakh Tour Operators Association to restore trekking route

In yet another positive initiative, a team of volunteers from All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA) with support of Stakmo villagers set off on a trekking recce from Sabu to Egoo village on November 12, 2018. This trek can be further extended to Sachukul near Pangong Lake. Post flash flood the trek route needs restoration at few places. The main idea is to sustain the trekking culture in Ladakh and to promote inbound business. International Mountain Cycling Contest to be held in Kerala on Dec 8

The fifth edition of International Mountain Cycling Contest to be held at the hilly district of Wayanad in Kerala on December 8. MTB Kerala-2018 will be held at the Priyadarshini Tea Estate in Mananthavady. Meet the fastest woman to cycle around the world

Jenny Graham, a 38-year-old Scottish adventurer now holds the record of the fastest woman to cycle around the world. Jenny cycled 18,000 miles across four continents, travelling through 16 countries. Jenny started her journey from Berlin on June 16 and has returned to Brandenburg Gate in Berlin on October 18 after some 125 days, pocketing the world record. Jenny passed through Germany, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Mongolia, China, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, US, Portugal, Spain and France. She took four flights and one boat during the journey. Kashmir Tourism organizes bike rally to promote adventure tourism

A group of 48 bikers, including 3 female bikers, from across the country set off on a motorcycle rally to Bhadarwah Valley, via famous Chattar Galla pass in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday with a mission to promote adventure tourism and sports in Chenab valley. Chembra peak in Wayanad reopens for travellers

Climbing the Chembra peak in Wayanad is every traveller’s dream. But, the district authorities have closed in January due to drought in the hills. After nine long months, the peak is now open for tourists. The tourism department had reconstructed the road from Meppadi to Chembra Peak spending Rs 1.8 crore. But, a portion of the road was washed away during the monsoon and around 50 metres had to be rebuilt, the District Tourism Promotion Council said in a press release. Realising the potential of adventure tourism, Sri Lanka has launched a programme to assist the tourism industry to standardize and develop adventure tourism and training in the country. Learn adventure tourism in Himachal university

The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) is giving an opportunity to do a course in adventure tourism.  The information was stated by Dr SP Bansal, Vice-Chancellor of the University. Dr Bansal informed that the central government had assured the university a grant of Rs 2.5 crore for the course. The vice chancellor also informed that the university will create its own facility to start the adventure tourism course. “A community radio, journalism and mass communication courses were also on the agenda,” he added. Tourism dept to frame guidelines for adventure activities in J&K

With an aim to facilitate adventure tourism in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Government is in the process of framing guidelines for adventure activities being carried out by various agencies in the state. Ban on night stay at hills will affect adventure tourism in Uttarakhand

An order to ban night stay at high-altitude meadows and limiting the number of tourists, by the Uttarakhand High Court will adversely affect the adventure tourism in the state, experts say. Jatayu Earth Centre will be open to public from today onwards, said a press statement issued by the authorities. The ticket charge per person is Rs. 400.
