Sri Lanka has launched a luxury train service connecting the country’s Tamil-dominated Jaffna district to the capital city Colombo with the help of a Line of Credit offered by India, in another significant landmark in bilateral ties. The intercity rail service with all facilities was launched on Sunday for passengers travelling from Colombo’s Mount Lavinia suburb to Jaffna’s Kankesanthurai port suburb in the north, covering a distance of approximately 386 kms. More countries are opening their doors to Indian tourists taking the two-dose vaccine

More countries are opening borders for Indian tourists who have taken two doses of the covid vaccine. Sri Lanka is one of the last countries on this list. Another feature is that Sri Lanka approves both covishield and covaxin vaccines. Most countries are only accepting the Covishield. Those who have taken a single dose or have not been vaccinated cannot enter Sri Lanka. Covid 19- Sri Lanka imposes travel ban on Indian tourists

Sri Lanka bans travelers from India. The Director General of Sri Lanka Civil Aviation has said that passengers from India will not be allowed to land in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is currently experiencing an increase in covid-19 cases. About 2,000 new cases have been reported in the last five days. From early to mid-April, an average of 200 cases were reported here. Health officials said the current wave was from the fastest spreading UK variant. Vistara to start Mumbai-Colombo service from Nov 25

Vistara has announced a six-time-a-week (except Wednesdays) direct service to Colombo, Sri Lanka from Mumbai starting November 25, 2019, onwards, making it the fourth international destination in network. SriLankan to start Colombo-Ahmedabad & Colombo-Calicut route from 2020

SriLankan Airlines will enhance connectivity to India with new flights to Ahmedabad and Calicut. The operations will begin in 2020.
