The “Feel the Rhythm of Korea” video by the Korea Tourism Organization has won a Tourism Innovation Award in the digital campaign section. The awards are given to institutions and tourism companies around the world that apply innovative business models or technologies in the tourism sector. The award was given during the Tourism Innovation Summit that took place November 25-27 in Seville, Spain. Karita Aaltonen hails from Finland, which is one of the world’s most northern and geographically remote countries and is the world’s happiest country. But, however, Karita feels that Kerala is the most beautiful place in the world. She was in Kerala in June 2018 for a 10-day Yoga Ambassadors Tour, organized by ATTOI (Association of Tourism Trade Organisations, India). Terminal 2 of the Cochin International Airport has undergone a face-lift recently. The terminal, which was renovated with around Rs 240 crore, now boasts of state-of-the-art facilities along with traditional Kerala architecture. ‘Kerala Art Arcade’ installed near the security check area in level 2 has become the main center of attraction in the airport. A suranga is a narrow horizontal tunnel, barely two-and-a-half feet wide and just over five-and-a-half feet high, dug into laterite hills until a water spring is found. The typical suranga can run from anywhere between 30 metres to 300 metres into a hill. The 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup will be held in Bhubaneswar, India, starting from November 28. The 66th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR) took place at the Punnamada lake in Alappuzha on 10th November 2018. Around 81 boats, including 25 snakeboats, made a splash on Punnamada Lake. The event gave the much-needed impetus to the flood-ravaged backwater tourism sector. Kerala Governor P Sathasivam has inaugurated the event in the presence of Kerala ministers and other dignitaries.
