Terminal 2 of the Cochin International Airport has undergone a face-lift recently. The terminal, which was renovated with around Rs 240 crore, now boasts of state-of-the-art facilities along with traditional Kerala architecture. ‘Kerala Art Arcade’ installed near the security check area in level 2 has become the main center of attraction in the airport. Acclaimed *Ottanthulal artist Kalamandalam Geethanandan died on Sunday around 8 pm while performing at Avittathur Mahavishnu Temple at Irinjalakuda in Thrissur, Kerala. The 58-year-old, who had performed on more than 5,000 stages in India and abroad, collapsed on the stage and died during a stage performance. He was given first aid and taken to a hospital, but could not be saved. Geethanandan had been a faculty member at the Kalamandalam’s Ottanthulal department for more than 25 years. Geethanandan has also acted in many movies including Kamaladalam, Manasinakkare, Thoovalkottaram and Irattakuttikalude Achan. പ്രശസ്ത ഓട്ടൻതുള്ളൽ കലാകാരനും നടനുമായ കലാമണ്ഡലം ഗീതാനന്ദൻ (58) കുഴഞ്ഞു വീണു മരിച്ചു. തൃശൂർ ഇരിഞ്ഞാലക്കുട അവിട്ടത്തൂർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഓട്ടൻതുള്ളൽ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനിടെയാണ്കുഴഞ്ഞു വീണത്. ചരിത്രത്തിലാദ്യമായി തുള്ളൽപദ കച്ചേരി അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത് ഗീതാനന്ദനായിരുന്നു. 1974 ലാണ് ഗീതാനന്ദന്‍ കലാമണ്ഡലത്തില്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയായി ചേരുന്നത്. ഒന്‍പതാം വയസില്‍ തുള്ളലില്‍ അരങ്ങേറി. വീര ശൃംഖലയും തുള്ളൽ കലാ നിധി പുരസ്കാരവും നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കലാമണ്ഡലം അധ്യാപകനായിരുന്നു. വലിയ ശിഷ്യ സമ്പത്തും ഗീതാനന്ദനുണ്ട്. നീനാപ്രസാദ് ,കാവ്യാ മാധവന്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ ശിഷ്യരായിരുന്നു.കമലദളം അടക്കം മുപ്പതിലേറെ സിനിമകളില്‍ അഭിനയിച്ചു.നൃത്ത സംവിധായിക ശോഭനയാണ് ഭാര്യ. മക്കള്‍ സനല്കുമാരും ശ്രീലക്ഷ്മിയും തുള്ളല്‍ കലാരംഗത്തുണ്ട്.
