Incredible India road shows in US cities to promote tourism

With an aim to attract more American tourists to the country, Incredible India is conducting road shows across different cities in US. Through the road shows, Incredible India is projecting the many facets of the country, including its rich culture, heritage, scope of adventure, leisure and medical tourism. The four-day road show was organised by the government of India in association with industry stakeholders. India grows as hub for medical tourism, foreign visitors increase 111% in 3 years

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the growth of medical tourism in India is optimistic. The segment has witnessed exponential growth of 111 per cent in the last three years from 2015 to 2017. The Ministry stated that some 4.95 lakh foreign tourists visited India for medical purposes in 2017, a rise from 2.33 lakh in 2015, while in 2016, a total of 4.27 lakh foreign tourists visited the sub-continent. Incredible India Roadshows in USA, Canada and Africa in June and July 2019

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is all set to conduct Incredible India Roadshows in the US and Canada and Africa in June and July 2019. The Incredible India team will visit USA & Canada on June 24, 2019; Washington DC on June 25- Boston; on June 26 at Vancouver, Seattle on June 27 and San Francisco on June 28. The Africa Roadshows will start on July 01 from Johannesburg; July 03 in Durban and July 05 in Port Louis.  

Foreign Exchange Earnings from tourism in India to increase by 6.8% in 2019

The Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEE) from tourism stood at USD 28.9 billion (Rs 1.97 trillion) in 2018, which accounted for 5.4 per cent of the total exports, according to a latest FICCI-Yes Bank report. The contribution is further expected to increase by 6.8 per cent in 2019 and rise by 5.6 per cent p a by 2029 to reach Rs 3.63 trillion. However, India ranks 14th in terms of absolute FEE and 122nd in terms of share of visitor exports in total export. Arrivals in India through e-tourist visa increases at a CAGR of 180% during 2014-18

Arrivals in India through e-tourist visa increased at a CAGR of 180 per cent during 2014-18, according a report by India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF). In 2018, 23,69,941 tourists have arrived in India through e-tourist visa.  Tourist arrivals increased at a CAGR of 251.59 per cent during 2014-17 to reach 1,697,000 tourists in 2017. The government has recently made a series of amendments in the e-visa regime to make it more tourist-friendly. Under Swadesh Darshan Scheme, Ministry of Tourism is developing critical tourism infrastructure in the country in a sustainable and inclusive manner to make India into a world class tourist destination. Central Government sanctions Rs 361.97 crores for five Buddhist Circuit projects

The central government has sanctioned Rs 361.97 crore for five projects Buddhist Circuit programme of the Uninon Ministry, which connects the heritage sites with significance of Buddhism across the country. It was informed by the Union Tourism Minister, KJ Alphons in the Lok Sabha. The Ministry of Tourism has identified Buddhist Circuit as one of the fifteen thematic circuits for development under Swadesh Darshan Scheme. The Buddhist Circuit projects are in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh, connecting the Buddhist centers in each states. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Nitin Gadkari said at Prayagraj Kumbh that water of river Ganga will be completely clean by March 2020. Centre asks states to identify ‘No Selfie Zones’ at tourism spots

The Government of India has advised all state governments to identify accident-prone spots at tourism sites for the protection of tourists who take selfies, the Lok Sabha was informed earlier this week. Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir said accidents while taking selfies are reported from time to time and the Ministry of Tourism has advised all state governments and Union Territory administrations to take a number of measures to safeguard tourists.
