Ten major historical sites across India to stay open till 9 pm

Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Minister (IC), Culture and Minister of State (IC), Tourism, has announced that ten historical monuments across the country  will remain open till 9 pm. The monuments include Rajarani Temple Complex (Odisha), Dulhadeo Temple and Khajuraho (both Madhya Pradesh), Sheikh Chilli Tomb (Haryana), Safdarjung Tomb (Delhi), Humayuna Tomb (Delhi), the Group of Monuments at Pattadakal and Gol Gumbaz (both Karnataka), Group of Temples, Markanda, Chamursi (Maharashtra), Man Mahal, Vaidhshala (Uttar Pradesh) and Rani Ki Vav (Gujarat). Agra’s tourism sector to fly high on UDAN initiative

The tourism industry connected with Agra is expecting a major boost in the business as it is going to get  air connectivity to Bengaluru, Bhopal, Lucknow, and Varanasi from May 2019,under the government’s UDAN regional connectivity scheme. Taj Mahal & Agra fort among the top ten revenue generating monuments

The top ten revenue generating monuments during 2015-18 are Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Sun Temple Konark, Group of monuments Mamallapuram, Ellora Caves, Group of monuments Khajuraho, and Ajanta Caves, Aurangabad. The year wise details of expenditure incurred for conservation of protected monuments under Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) during 2015-2018 are: In 2015-16, the Expenditure incurred was Rs 23746.25 lakh, Rs 30176.22 lakh in 2016-17 and Rs 41076.79 lakh in 2017-18. Ten tourism sites to be developed into iconic destinations: K J Alphons

Colva Beach, Goa The Ministry of Tourism has identified ten prominent tourist sites for development into iconic tourist destinations in the country. The plan was announced during the Budget Announcements of 2018-19. The ministry has identified the sites based on the criteria of footfall, regional distribution, potential for development and ease of implementation.
