Kerala bets big on accessible tourism

Kerala Tourism, prominent for its innovative ideas for the development of tourism, planning to launch yet another programme named ‘Barrier-free Kerala Tourism,’ which aims to convert the State into a 100 per cent-accessible friendly tourist destination by 2021.The project will be carried out by the Department of Tourism in cooperation with Responsible Tourism (RT) mission, Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakkampally Surendran will inaugurate the commencement of the work of the 'Barrier-Free Kerala Tourism' project on 27 June. An 'Accessible tourism' workshop will also be held the same day in which public-private players in the tourism sector are expected to participate.

Online directory of artisans, doyens getting ready

The Ernakulam District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) is planning to launch an exclusive initiative to collate data on skilled artisans, dancers and other artists by the end of June, under the Responsible Tourism (RT) Mission project. The project is aimed at promoting experimental tourism. The online directory will have details regarding artists, including their name, coordinators, bio-data and details of stage performances. The initiative is expected to help people from across the globe to access the state’s traditional art forms, handicraft products and artisans. Centre sanctions Rs 190 crores for Tripura and Assam

With an aim to enable the state to build suitable infrastructure across the state, the Union ministry has sanctioned Rs 90 crores to Tripura. As Part of the ‘Prasad’ scheme, which aims at developing the religious sites, another Rs 10 crores has also been allotted. The funds will be utilized for the development of temples, mosques and monasteries. Himachal receives Rs 1800 cr projects for tourism development

The Himachal Pradesh government has got approval from the Central government for projects worth Rs 1,800 crore for tourism development, informed the state Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. The minister added that efforts would be made to develop lesser-known areas from the tourism point of view. “The Gada Gushaini area would be developed from eco-tourism point of view,” he said. Bahadurgarh is now connected with Delhi Metro

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has inaugurated the Bahadurgarh-Mundka Metro Line via video conference. Congratulating the people of Haryana and Delhi on the commencement of this new section of the Delhi Metro, he said he was happy to see Bahadurgarh connected with the Delhi Metro. This is the third place in Haryana, after Gurugram and Faridabad to be connected like this. Kannur airport to be fully operational by September

The Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu has said that the Kannur airport will be provided with all possible help to make it fully operational by September this year. After meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Prabhu has directed Chairman, Airport Authority of India and other officials from the Ministry to take all possible steps to make Kannur Airport as a point of call for foreign airlines. Chinese market to revive Tunisian tourism

Nearly 12,000 Chinese tourists have visited Tunisia between January and May 2018, registering a growth of 56.8 per cent year on year, according to the statistics of Tunisian Ministry of Tourism. With a history of over 3,000 years, Tunisia, lying at the north point of the African continent, is renowned for its rich tourism resources. From 2017 February onwards Tunisia has decided to give visa-free entry to Chinese tourists for stay of no more than 90 days in the country. Go-Kerala branded in Delhi Metro

Kerala Tourism is once again in the limelight. And, this time it takes the credit for launching one of the biggest advertising campaigns in the national level, aimed to mesmerize the domestic tourists. Joining Kerala Tourism, is the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which has offered the exteriors of the coaches of the Delhi metro trains to adorn the vinyl graphics highlighting a collage of images from God’s Own Country. The campaign by Kerala Tourism includes the spectacle of a huge canvas, depicting the state’s soulful natural beauty such as serene beaches, emerald backwaters, lush hill stations, and exotic wildlife.

YouTube will allow users to launch pre-recorded videos as live moments

YouTube has launched a couple of new updates to the platform including the new “Premieres” feature that would allow creators to debut pre-recorded videos as a live moment. “Premieres are starting to roll out to uploaders today and will be available broadly soon,” said Neal Mohan, YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, in a blog post. “When creators choose to release a Premiere, we’ll automatically create a public landing page to build anticipation and hype up new content,” Mohan added. High court bans adventure sports in Uttarakhand

First edition of YAT2018 concludes in Kochi

Mass yoga drill by foreign delegates on International Yoga Day

It was a distinctive experience for the participants and spectators, when people from 23 different countries performed ‘yoga asanas’ in harmony. Yoga experts from 23 different countries assembled to perform yoga in Kochi as part of the Yoga Ambassadors Tour, organized by Association of Tourism Trade Organizations India (ATTOI), in association with Kerala Tourism and Ayush Minstry.
