Rashmi Verma retires as Secretary Tourism

Rashmi Verma (IAS), of 1982 batch from Bihar Cadre, has retired from her service today as the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. She had joined as the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, in May 2017. “Secretary Tourism, Rashmi Verma, retired today after doing an exceptionally outstanding job in my Ministry. Tourism Secretary Rashmi Verma at the roll out of the Incredible India Tourist Facilitator Certification (IITFC) Programme. Rashmi Verma , The Union Tourism Secretary rolled out the  Incredible India Tourist Facilitator Certification (IITFC) Programme in New Delhi on 15th November 2018. Tourism Minister K J Alphons has presented National Tourism Awards 2016-17 in New Delhi, on the World Tourism Day. The Awards were presented to various segments of the travel and tourism industry. No more free SIM cards for foreign tourists in India

A scheme to provide free SIM cards to foreign tourists arriving in India to help them to stay connected while in India has been “discontinued” as it was felt “unnecessary”, informed tourism secretary Rashmi Verma. Under the scheme, foreign tourists availing e-visas were provided free SIM cards on arrival in India. The scheme was launched in February last year by the then tourism minister Mahesh Sharma. MoT asks states to implement revised Guidelines on Adventure Tourism

The High Court of Uttarakhand has recently imposed a ban on all water-based adventure sports activities, including white water rafting, zip lining and paragliding, until a policy is framed to regulate these activities. In the order dated June 18, the court directed the state government to “prepare a transparent policy in this regard within a period of two weeks”. In view of this, the Union Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has urged state governments to implement the revised Guidelines for Adventure Tourism in India in letter and spirit as early as possible. Global Travel Mart India to be held on September 16

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has decided to hold the Global Travel Mart India between September 16 and 18, in Delhi. “It has been a demand from the tourism industry so many years and therefore Ministry will be organising the first edition of the Mart in partnership with FAITH, the umbrella body representing all the industry associations in the country.
