Republic Day Special for Kids – Kolkata launches first ever Boat Library

A children’s library on a boat was launched in Kolkata on Republic Day, a first of a kind initiative. Children will be able to choose from a selection of 500 titles in English and Bengali on the Young Readers’ Boat Library, an official said on Tuesday. The idea behind the boat library is that one can read some good collection of books while appreciating the beauty of Kolkata, cruising on the Hooghly, he said. “The boat library would take people on a three-hour-long trip,” the official said. AirAsia India launches flights to Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati & Imphal from Agartala

AirAsia India has launched flight services to Imphal, Guwahati, Kolkata and Delhi from Agartala, the capital of Tripura. Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister, Tripura flagged off the first AirAsia India flight to Kolkata from the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. Sanjay Kumar, COO, AirAsia India informed that 14 flight per week would be operated from the Maharaj Bir Bikram Airport on the Agartala-Kolkata, Agartala-Delhi, Agartala-Guwahati and Agartala-Imphal routes. “We also have plans to extend our service for connecting Agartala with Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai. GoAir has launched non-stop flights to Singapore from Bengaluru and Kolkata. Starting October 18, 2019, GoAir will operate Bengaluru – Singapore – Bengaluru flights four days in a week. Nepal’s Buddha Air to fly to Kolkata from May

Buddha Air, Nepal’s leading private air service provider, will operate flights to Kolkata from May-end this year. Buddha Air will operate its flights to Kolkata with the ATR 72-500 aircraft on Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week. The airlines had earlier planned to start flights to the eastern Indian city from mid-April. However, it changed its flight dates considering upcoming Indian parliamentary elections. “Although the date of the flights has been changed due to the elections, the flight schedule remains unchanged,” said a media statement issued by the Buddha Air. NMCG is planning to set up ‘Ganga Museums’ on the bank of the river

The central ministry is planning to set up a Ganga Exhibition and a Ganga Museum to showcase the history and mythology and the importance of the sacred river in the livelihood of the people living around it. It was announced by National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), as part of the Ganga Rejuvenation programme. IndiGo introduces 4 new routes; adds 24 new flights across India

IndiGo has announced the launch of 24 new flights on its network. The airline has introduced four new routes and will operate its first flight between Ahmedabad and Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad and Varanasi, Hyderabad and Patna and Kolkata and Surat. All 24 new services will commence from September 2018. IndiGo will provide a second flight in Agartala-Guwahati, Hyderabad-Guwahati and Kolkata-Nagpur routes. West Bengal to revamp river transport & tourism with WB assistance

Following the announcement of National Water Ways by the Union Ministry, the West Bengal government has initiated a project to enhance its river transport and tourism potential with a $151 million (Rs 1,021 crore) World Bank assistance. Rs 5,369 crore worth Ganga Jal Marg project of the Union Ministry will facilitate cargo movement along the National Waterway-I from Varanasi to Haldia. Railway to fasten trains at Golden Quadrilateral

Indian Railway, as part of fastening trains connecting the four metro cities of Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi (Quadrilateral) has asked the concerned authorities to improve the existing infrastructure. India has over 100 million internet users on a daily basis, within their various gadgets, making India as the world’s third largest internet users globally.
