Ardh Kumbh sees 35% jump in foreign tourist arrivals

The arrivals during Ardh Kumbh  held at Prayagraj saw some 35 per cent increase compared to the same period 2013.  The 49-day fair is also attracting travellers from unconventional countries. More than 12 crore people are expected to take part in the events over the next 50 days. Authorities have set up temporary bridges, 600 mass kitchens and more than 100,000 portable toilets in a pop-up city at the confluence of the rivers, which is known as the sangam. Sanyas Diksha at Prayagraj Kumbh 2019 for the first time ever

For the first time at Prayagraj Kumbh, about 800 saints were given Sanyas Diksha at Dashanami Juna Akhara. All religious ceremonies were completed this morning on the bank of river Ganga. Ceremony was initiated on JAnuary 27 with the shaving of head of saints and taking holy dip in the River. Barbers were called from Haridwar and Varanasi for the purpose. Several rituals were performed at the camp of the Akhara and on the bank of the River including Diksha by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Akhara Swami Awadeshanand Maharaj. CII to promote Kumbh Mela 2019

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has joined hands with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to promote Kumbh Mela 2019. More than 12 crore pilgrims are expected to visit the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019 starting January 15 at Prayagraj (Allahabad) in Uttar Pradesh, including 10 lakh foreign tourists. “This event is organised at four places in the country. The event held at Prayagraj itself is a subject of attraction and curiosity for the country and the world. Kumbh Mela 2019: Railways to run 800 special trains

There will be scores of pilgrims and tourists arriving for the Kumbh Mela 2019, and, to welcome the pilgrims and tourists, the railways said it will run 800 special trains from various stations of Allahabad district. These trains would be in addition to the regular trains run by the North Central Railway (NCR). Six special trains will come to Allahabad from different railway zones of the country for pilgrims and tourists participating in the Kumbh Mela. NMCG is planning to set up ‘Ganga Museums’ on the bank of the river

The central ministry is planning to set up a Ganga Exhibition and a Ganga Museum to showcase the history and mythology and the importance of the sacred river in the livelihood of the people living around it. It was announced by National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), as part of the Ganga Rejuvenation programme. The central museum will be set up in Delhi and there will be regional museums in different states. IndiGo launches flight between Allahabad and Bengaluru

IndiGo has launched non-stop flights between Allahabad and Bengaluru at a starting all-inclusive price of Rs 2,500. The flight started from Bengaluru on Thursday at 1:30 pm and reached Allahabad at 4:10 pm. The flight started from Allahabad at 4:40 pm and reached Bengaluru at 9:00 pm, an airline release said. With this new connectivity, Allahabad-Bengaluru has become the sixth RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme – UDAN) route and the 60th destination on IndiGo’s network.
