Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019 makes three Guinness World Records

Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019 has been placed in the Guinness World Records in three sectors. It includes largest traffic and crowd management plan, the biggest painting exercise of public sites under paint my city scheme and biggest sanitation and waste disposal mechanism. It was announced by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in a press release. A three member team from Guinness World Records visited the Prayagraj for this purpose. Ardh Kumbh sees 35% jump in foreign tourist arrivals

The arrivals during Ardh Kumbh  held at Prayagraj saw some 35 per cent increase compared to the same period 2013.  The 49-day fair is also attracting travellers from unconventional countries. More than 12 crore people are expected to take part in the events over the next 50 days. Authorities have set up temporary bridges, 600 mass kitchens and more than 100,000 portable toilets in a pop-up city at the confluence of the rivers, which is known as the sangam. Kumbh Mela 2019: Railways to run 800 special trains

There will be scores of pilgrims and tourists arriving for the Kumbh Mela 2019, and, to welcome the pilgrims and tourists, the railways said it will run 800 special trains from various stations of Allahabad district. These trains would be in addition to the regular trains run by the North Central Railway (NCR). Six special trains will come to Allahabad from different railway zones of the country for pilgrims and tourists participating in the Kumbh Mela. Kumbha Mela 2019 to be a global event: Tourism Minister

KJ Alphons, Union Tourism Minister for State said on Monday that the government is planning to launch a campaign for promoting Kumbh Mela across the country with a tag line ‘Chalo Kumbh Chalo’. The campaign may include releasing advertisements at major international airports of the country and organising the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2019 in Varanasi to lure the Pravasi Bharatiya delegates.
