White water rafting on Mhadei river restarts

Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) said it has recommenced its white water rafting activity on Mhadei river till September this year. There will be two rafting trips held each day with the first trip starting at 9:30 am and the second at 2:30 pm. Each trip will go on for 2.5 to 3.5 hours running 10 km each. For white water rafting, people are needed to assemble at The Earthen Pot Restaurant in Valpoi. There will be a 25-minute drive and a 10-minute walk from there to the Mhadei river valley. MoT asks states to implement revised Guidelines on Adventure Tourism

The High Court of Uttarakhand has recently imposed a ban on all water-based adventure sports activities, including white water rafting, zip lining and paragliding, until a policy is framed to regulate these activities. In the order dated June 18, the court directed the state government to “prepare a transparent policy in this regard within a period of two weeks”. In view of this, the Union Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has urged state governments to implement the revised Guidelines for Adventure Tourism in India in letter and spirit as early as possible. Jatayu Earth Center’s phase II will be operational on Aug 17

The second phase of Jatayu Earth Center project will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on 17th August 2017, informed Tourism Minister Kadakampalli Surendran. The project, located at Chadayamangalam in Kollam, includes the sculpture of the great mythical bird Jatayu mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana, cable car – fully manufactured in Switzerland, adventure park and helicopter local flying service. High court bans adventure sports in Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand high court has banned paragliding, white water rafting and other water sports until the government enact a policy to regulate them.  The move aimed at safeguarding both the environment and people engaging in these daring activities.

Darjeeling, Kalimpong to explore adventure tourism opportunities

To promote adventure tourism in the hills, the tourism department of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) is planning to develop Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong. Necessary steps will be taken to make these places more than just a tourist destination. Travellers to Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong will now have a host of adventurous activities at these destinations. GTA is now working to develop infrastructure in the hills and will soon be offering tourists with facilities like hill biking, paragliding, rafting and cycling. Tourism department set to launch adventure sports this monsoon

Pune is very famous for some striking trekking and tourist spots. The state tourism department has decided to exploit this possibility for improving the tourism potential. The department plans to launch adventure sports at three prime locations, namely Sinhgad, Mahabaleshwar and Malshej Ghat. The department is also rooting for adventure activities this monsoon like waterfall rappelling, rock climbing and trekking. Nepal hosts adventure rafting festival

The annual water carnival in Nepal was attended by almost 500 locals and foreigners. The 30th Annual Rafting Festival 2018 was organized by the Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), an umbrella organization of rafting agencies, under the theme “Let’s Protect our Rivers for Tourism and Environment.” White water rafting was organized in Benighat-Phisling section of Trishuli River, some 40 km away from the capital city. World Kayak Championship at Thusharagiri from July 18

The next edition of the Malabar Kayaking Championship will be held at Meenthullipara, Pulikkayam and Arippara in Kerala’s Calicut district from July 18 to 22. The championship is being organised by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Kozhikode District Panchayat, Thiruvambadi and Kodencherry panchayats and Madras Fun Tools. Jatayu Park will keep you waiting

Jatayu Nature Park is one of the most anticipated tourism projects in Kerala. The park began its partial operation as the Adventure Rock Hill was opened in December 2017. The fully functional park was set to open on May 23rd, but the inauguration has been shifted on grounds of Chengannur by-election set for May 28th. WiFi facility on trekking routes in Uttarakhand

Around 126 trekking routes in Uttarakhand will have WiFi network for the ease of tourists travelling to distant parts of the state. The Uttarakhand Information Technology Development Authority (UITDA) said it has prepared a plan to this effect. “All 126 trekking routes would be surveyed for installing towers with required frequency to provide the WiFi connectivity,” said Amit Sinha, the Director of Uttarakhand Information Technology Development Authority. Jammu ropeway ready for trial run

Jammu and Kashmir’s new ropeway project, which is expected to boost tourism, is all set for a trial run this month. “The ropeway project will boost tourism and add to aesthetics of the city,” said Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi after reviewing the progress of the project. Bengal plans trekking path survey

The state tourism department of West Bengal is planning to conduct a survey of existing trekking routes in north Bengal and explore new ones as part of a plan to encourage adventure tourism in the region. The department plans to engage firms which have experience in the field of trekking to conduct a comprehensive survey and to collect data on the trekking routes of the eastern Himalayan region. The firms would also have the task to explore prospective routes which can be promoted in due course among travelling enthusiast. The 8th Bhoj Adventures Fest kick starts in Bhopal featuring sky diving for the first time. Paramotoring Fest 2018 concludes on March 18

The Kannur District Tourist Promotion Council (DTPC), in collaboration with Vishwas Foundation, has organized a paramotoring Fest at the Muzhappilangad Drive-in beach. The event, kick started on March 4, will be concluded on March 18. The event, named ‘Fly High’ has been organised to woo youngsters into paramotoring. A motorised glider will carry the passenger to a height of 200 to 300 ft above the ground and will fly for 15 minutes.
