White water rafting on Mhadei river restarts

Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) said it has recommenced its white water rafting activity on Mhadei river till September this year. There will be two rafting trips held each day with the first trip starting at 9:30 am and the second at 2:30 pm. Each trip will go on for 2.5 to 3.5 hours running 10 km each.

For white water rafting, people are needed to assemble at The Earthen Pot Restaurant in Valpoi. There will be a 25-minute drive and a 10-minute walk from there to the Mhadei river valley. From there, the group will be lead to the rafting site where they will be fitted with required equipment and briefed by the river guides on safety instructions.

Goa Tourism has tied up with one of the top adventure sports video companies to capture the rafting experience through a personalized video, which would be shared via WhatsApp or Google Drive the same day. There are also plans to offer a bus service for Rs 200 from Panjim and the Northern beaches twice daily.

“Goa has always been one of the best Indian destinations for relaxation offering a plethora of water sport activities. Out of the numerous ones available, navigating the rapids of the Mhadei River through our river rafting activity has been gaining immense popularity among tourists. Hence, this year we decided to associate with a top adventure sports video company to create personalized videos of our adventure enthusiasts braving along the Mhadei River, which can be taken home as a memorabilia. In future as well, we will continue to explore different tie-ups that would help us enhance the experience of our travellers,” said Nilesh Cabral, Chairman, GTDC.
