The much-awaited Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes Kunthiana) season is almost here in Kerala and the state is expecting over 800,000 travellers to visit the picturesque hill station during July -October 2018 period. The Neelakurinji flowers will blossom after 12 years across the hills of Munnar in Idukki district during these months. Neelakurinji is commonly found across the Western Ghats,and had flourished previously in 2006. Munnar has the largest concentration of the Strobilanthes out of the 46 varieties found in India. Vanchikulam freshwater lake was once a busy waterway connecting Thrissur and Kochi. However, the waterway lost all its prominence with the arrival of Shoranur-Kochi rail line and NH47, and soon turned out into a waste dumping yard. Now, Thrissur Corporation and Tourism Department has made plans to restore the waterway and convert it into a tourism hub. The state will gift the tourists a chance to revive nature, rekindle relationships, and reconnect with life by involving in activities like trekking, Ayurveda massage, river rafting more. Followed by the successful implementation of Responsible Tourism in some of the destinations in the state, the RT Mission is all set to develop eight more RT model villages across Kerala. Also, the People’s Participation for Participatory Planning and Empowerment through Responsible Tourism (PEPPER), an innovative integrated tourism project of the RT Mission that ensures whole-hearted participation of the people in the particular locality, will be extended to 10 more centres. The next edition of the Malabar Kayaking Championship will be held at Meenthullipara, Pulikkayam and Arippara in Kerala’s Calicut district from July 18 to 22. The championship is being organised by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Kozhikode District Panchayat, Thiruvambadi and Kodencherry panchayats and Madras Fun Tools. നഗരങ്ങളിലും, തിരക്കേറിയ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലും താമസിക്കുന്നതിന് പകരം തിരക്കൊഴിഞ്ഞ തോട്ടങ്ങളിലും കൃഷിഭൂമിയിലും സമയം ചിവലിടുന്ന രീതിയാണ് ഫാം ടൂറിസം. കേരളത്തില്‍ ഫാം ടൂറിസം പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് നിലവിലുള്ള ചട്ടങ്ങളില്‍ ഇളവുമായി ടൂറിസം വകുപ്പ്. ഫാം ടൂറിസം പദ്ധതികള്‍ തുടങ്ങുന്നതിന് 50 ഏക്കര്‍ തോട്ടം എന്നതിനെ 15 ഏക്കറായി ചുരുക്കി. കൃഷിഭൂമി 15 ഏക്കര്‍ എന്നതില്‍ നിന്ന് മൂന്ന് ഏക്കര്‍ മതിയെന്നാക്കി. ചട്ടത്തില്‍ ഇളവ് നല്‍കി ഒരു വര്‍ഷത്തിനകം കേരളത്തില്‍ 50 പുതിയ ഫാം ടൂറിസം പദ്ധതികള്‍ക്ക് തുടക്കമിടാനാണ് വകുപ്പ് ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്. അടുത്തിടെ നടന്ന ടൂറിസം റോഡ് ഷോകളില്‍ കേരളത്തിലെ ഫാം ടൂറിസം കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളെകുറിച്ച് ഒട്ടേറെ അന്വേഷണങ്ങള്‍ ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇത് കണക്കിലെടുത്താണ് മന്ത്രി കടകംപള്ളി സുരേന്ദ്രന്റെ നിര്‍ദേശ പ്രകാരം ഗ്രീന്‍ ഫാം പോളിസിയുമായി ടൂറിസം വകുപ്പ് മുന്നിട്ടിറങ്ങുന്നത്. ഉത്തരവാദിത്ത മിഷനായിരിക്കും പദ്ധതിയുടെ ചുമതല.

Jatayu Nature Park, one of the most anticipated tourism projects in Kerala, is all set to open its door for the public on July 4, said Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Kerala.  The park, which was slated to be inaugurated officially on May 23rd, began its partial operation in the Adventure Rock Hill back in December 2017. With an aim to ensure the safety of the tourists arriving in Kerala, the state police chief Loknath Behera has assured that the tourism police aid centres will be fully functional at key tourists destinations by June 15. The country’s maiden tourism police station had come up in Kerala way back in 2010, but, it failed to cover the major tourist hostspots in the state. The department has decided to impart adequate training to police personnel so they can be deployed in the newly set up centres.
