Shanzhong Zhu takes charge as UNWTO Exe Director

UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili has appointed Shanzhong Zhu as Executive Director of UNWTO. Zhu, a Chinese national, began his two-year term on 1 January 2018. Zhu joined UNWTO in 2014 as Executive Director. Prior to his appointment, he was Vice Chairman of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).

Canada’s most populous city Toronto recorded the highest number of tourist arrival in 2017. An astonishing figure of 43.7 million with a revenue of $8.8 billion dollar was recorded in the year. Netherlands records 17.6 million tourist arrivals

Jordan tourism revenue up by 12.5%

According to the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), the tourism revenues in 2017 increased by 12.5 per cent, up to $4.6 billion, compared to $4.1 billion in 2016. The report says that the increase was mainly due to an 8.7 per cent rise in the total number of tourists in 2017.
